IT RUNS GREAT!!! I cannot describe how it sounds... it shakes the ground when it idles and one of our neighbors sayed it sounded like a big block. were letting it cool down now weve got it back in the garage now when it was running it was just below 180 it just had perfect temperature, oil psi and no major leaks exept for a little fuel leak ( loose fitting) and little water leak. I am so proud of it it was worth all the time money and work.
  7. Every things good to go... put in our goe gibs racing break in oil filled up our champion radiator with water no leaks . the oil primer tools in place and to spin it we got a big old drill to spin that thing we used it to drill holes in concrete so it shouldn't burn out or tear up. We got a remote push button starter to fire it up and i was thinking about it and ... there's no way to turn it off so Jim made us a kill switch so we could cut it off and he made us up a tach wire for the tachometer so were going to fire it up tomorrow.
  8. Nice work that looked very professional I have to get that spot welding kit for my welder.
  9. good advice I don't plan on doing long periods of welding just small stuff and when I weld Ill give it a long cool down period by letting it sit on a nonconductive surface while turned on which allows the fan to run cooling it down. I have read and reread the instruction manual I wanted to be sure I did the set up right.
  10. has any one used Chicago electric that's were my welders from Its worked good so far I know there was an older one like it but they have been improved its the 99 dollar one.
  11. welded for the first time neat experience I hope to try it again tomorrow.
  12. control arms gas tank straps gas tank sending unit and all other suspension parts are here frames at powder coating and I have used por 15 for the first time nice stuff I'm basically ready to start rust repairs. I will practice on my dads truck since it needs it and I need the practice.
  13. We are burning up some money all the chassis stuffs been odered and is on the way. We have a growing pile of parts at bradlys ready to go I get to go down to tullock automotive on monday to help tear it down. Then on tues day it will be taken to powder coating and it will be there for awhile then when it's back from powder coating every thing will be reassembled aligned and ready to go.
  14. I will be sure to save that he will be a good parts supplier thank you.
  15. how about fabricating the quarter panel pieces? around the wheel house and the lower section in the rear.
  16. As you all know I'm doing a body off restoration and now that we have the body off I need to focus on rust repairs. I have rust around the wheel house and the quarter panel where the side lights are and of coarse the roof and rear glass and in the trunk. I have not been able to find patches for the quarter panels or the corners under the rear glass does any one know where to find them or who can make them I have not lived long enough to be a expert welder or metal fabricator my dad has some welding experience so I can learn welding from him but we both wouldn't want to weld any thing but quality to that car. Or instructions to make the patches I can post pictures my grand dad keeps stealing my camera that's why I cant posting them now but please give advice I want to do this right. And I'm sort of worried about letting someone do it because they may not put the effort into it that I would like them to or that I would.
  17. well I don't know about an alignment just yet but I do know he's rebuilding the front suspension. all new bushings new coil springs, new adjustable rear control arms, rear sway bar, rear disc brakes possibly not sure yet, drilled and slotted rotors for the front and a good coating of Por 15 with a chassis paint top coat.
  18. hello every one we decided to get Tullock automotive to do my suspension they specialize in suspension and alignments so I know he's going to take good care of us so we have a roll back coming tomorrow.
  19. I will call him and get his advice I have to call Flow master and Bruce ( the man that sold me the car) the last time I heard from him he had been in a car wreck don't know how or if he recovered. He ALREADY had neck problems but he came out side though the day after the wreck to watch his unrestored Monte project get hauled away I think he was on the verge of crying. I knew that he was having a tough time and the money would help I didn't hesitate to give him that 4000 I felt bad that I was taking that away from him he has not seen the car sense it was on the roll back being hauled off.
  20. Neat now all I have to do is shop around for all this stuff I have read some of the other post and found out more about the coil springs it sounds like moog is the way to go.
  21. so from what I under stand replacing the coil springs adding a rear sway bar with new upper and lower control arms rebuilding the front suspension and adding a quick ratio gear box will make a world of difference along with a rust free car sitting on brand new body bushings

Thank you and it looks even faster in person 325 horse power or more means it will certainly move fast and once it hits 2200 rpm it will really pull hard thanks to the stall converter.
  23. so what about the other stuff just get a suspension rebuild kit and new rear controle arms and bushings springs to if so where from?
