WOW, I'm stunned!

I am very sorry to hear what happened. George will be missed greatly...

ROTFLMAO!
Thanks George, I needed a good laugh tonight!

Yeah, I guess it's kind of like in the old western gun slinger/outlaw days, where a cowboy would shoot another guy for his boots!I've heard stories of people shooting drivers because they wanted their wheels. Is this to start a new trend?

I've heard that some of those sets go for $10K or so.

Wow Kevin, that's a shocker!!!
I also ditto the responses above. Thanks for all you have done, and don't be a stranger to the rest of us.
Good luck in your future endeavors!!!
PS: I HOPE you're NOT gonna go off and start a Mustank club!!! HA HA HA, LOL...

What a piece of $hit that [you said a naughty!]hole turned out to be!
Sorry to hear what happened to you!!!
When you go to pick your car up, you should DEFINATELY let the Sheriff know that you are going there. I'd also request an escort by the Sheriff's Dept., just in case the [you said a naughty!]hole decides to do something stupid.
Then let them throw his sorry [censored] in freakin' jail where it belongs... The lowlife that he is.
Good Luck To You,
Ben N

Congrats George!
It's always an awesome event when she finally starts to "breathe on her own"!!!

Ben as far as i know they are the exact same. Now the 70 does not have any sections.

Thanks for the quick response Pete.
It was bugging me, that they might not be the correct ones. Then again, not much of my car is "correct" anyway. HE HE HE HE, LOL...

How many sections should the chrome piece that sits on top of the tail light lens have, on a '71 Monte.
Mine has 6 sections, and I was told that they are wrong for a '71.
Anyone have the correct answer for me???
Thanks Again,
Ben

Hi Gav,
I have a Helm 1971 Chassis Service Manual that I use when I'm not sure of something. It covers Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Nova, Camaro, & Corvettes.
I paid $40 for it brand new, a few years ago. It shows everything from frame stuff, to engine stuff, to dashpad/guage removal stuff.
Great Book!!!
Their website is helminc.com.
The form # for the '71 book is ST32971.

Thank You All For Your responses.
Wallaby: The stuff I bought is called Bare-Metal with an Ultra Bright Chrome finish. It's a foil material with adhesive backing.
Ian: Yes, please e-mail me a photo. It sounds like the same type of pen I used to get Reggie Jackson's autograph on a black baseball bat that I had custom made with all of his stats.
What is the name of the pen you used???
Thanks Again,
Ben

Are you talking about the same finish as is on the steering wheel on some of the First Gens? If so, I would try a silver or aluminum color.

Hi Rob,
The "Silver / Chrome" finish on steering wheel center-post border looks pretty close to what I'm looking for.
The area I need to re-do, is the outer rim (or edge) of the woodgrain looking dash panel.
It's about a 1/4" section/border that goes almost all the way around the dash panel.
I think that section was supposed to be shiny. But on a 31 year old car, I guess some of the finish/paint wore off.
What I'm looking for is something to re-do it with.
I'm trying to re-do it without taking the dash apart.
Thanks Again,
Ben

Is there such a thing as GOOD chrome paint? I'd like to re-paint my dashboard face around the edges, where that chrome painted plastic edge is (it's about 1/4").
I picked up some Bare Metal Foil (chrome finish), from a local hobby shop, but I'm not sure that is the best way to go.
Any advise?
Thank You,
Ben

You'll need to post your e-mail address in your profile first.
As far as the Mrs. goes, try to get her to agree, that we all could be doing alot worse things with our time & money than reading posts, and enjoying our cars.
Just as long as you enjoy each other first!!!
Hope that helps!
Good Luck!!!

I also have a master cutoff switch in the trunk. However, the clock has wires screwed to it so I'm going to run a separate wire from the trunk/switch to the inside for a couple of things that need to be live all the time.

Thanks George, good idea.
Unless we can find clocks that are powered by something else, like a crystal or something.
