  1. For those who have not attended a meet or maybe even a car show before, here are some tips: Things to bring: - Bring chairs. Yes, some people forget these. - A small cooler is recommended for refreshments of your choice. - Bring an EZup canopy if you have one. Shade for the group on car show day will come in handy. - Bring some car cleaning stuff. I have a small box of glass cleaner, tire shine, duster, rags, paper towell, etc). Towels come in handy too if you need to dry your car off at any point. For those driving long distance, I recommend having spare hoses and belts in the trunk. It can sometimes make an otherwise time consuming fix into a quick job. I also bring water, oil and tranny fluid just in case. Don't forget the tools also. Although some may like getting awards, you do not want the hard luck award. Get some sleep before the weekend. There is no requirement to stay up late but it happens when you get all the Monte nuts together. We just chat for hours.
  2. I will get in touch with the people in charge of the drag racing and get back to you with some info.
  3. REMINDER: Only 9 days left (July 29th) to secure a room at The Dalles Inn. After that, they release the rooms to the public.
  4. My 70 is the stock small block setup with a non-clutch fan. Going by memory, a little more than half of the blade is in the shroud.
  5. I'm still looking into this.
  6. There's a pub right next door to the hotel. There is also a restaurant called "Burgerville" across the street.
  7. We may end up doing it again next year. That will all depend on the timing and location of the 2011 Western Meet and any other mini-meets planned.
  8. Dave... quit taking all the credit. LOL
  9. Good idea. There is probably plenty of choices in the Tacoma Mall area.
  10. Great Jack! No special parking. The lot at the hotel is not huge so it might be hard to set aside a specific area. I will discuss it with them once I know roughly how many will be parking at the hotel.
  11. Rodney, check with Jake since he did some research on the campgrounds in the area. They are staying on the Washington side about 20 miles out of The Dalles, maybe Maryhill but I'm not sure. August 12th cannot come soon enough!
  12. 4 WEEKS TO GO! Make sure that you all are active members (dues paid) prior to the meet.
  13. I just got the updated list from The Dalles Inn: Roy Bunjes Doug Cameron Dan Goehring Keith Golanowski Cameron Lewis Dave Mau Dave Nassimbene Vaughn Peoples Luke Sink Royce Tollman Pat Trottier Jack Young I beleive there may be others booked in rooms that were not held for the FGMCC. I'm actually not on the list since I booked outside the group (there's actually three members in one room). If you booked a room but you are not on the list above, I recommend you phone them and request a confirmation number just to be sure. Maybe they can add you to the FGMCC list. Some people are camping also so they will not be on the hotel list. If you have not yet booked your hotel room, be sure to do so in the next 2 weeks!
  14. What Dave said... there should be no paint or clear on it.
  15. I will be looking into what space we can use/reserve. There is a large lot just a couple blocks West of the hotel on W2nd street. It is across the street from a restaurant. I looked at it using the Google Maps street view and it just had a couple RVs and some cars parked in it. There is some sort of business sign on the lot but I can't read it in the image. There does not appear to be any gates or anything for this lot. I will try to find out what this is and see if we can park trailers there. Heck, maybe there's a gas station nearby with a roomy parking lot. The search continues.
  16. I was just reading some reviews of The Dalles Inn on the Trip Advisor web site. It seems like people have some positive things to say about it in recent months. It appears like it will have a lot of things going for it during the weekend. It is right on the main drag where the cruise occurs. The hotel will have either a live band or DJ on the cruise night. They will also be setting up a wash bay for the cars to get cleaned up. The only drawback is the lack of parking for trailers. I was taking a look at the hotel using the street view on google and the parking lot is not all that spacious. The lot behind the hotel is for a Pub and some other business so we can't park them there. The hotel is suggesting parking them on the street. I beleive Jake said there was some space around the area where you might be able to park trailers but it was not near The Dalles Inn. There's other various lots near the hotel I will be looking into. Any suggestions from trailer owners?
  17. Based on the discussion above... Where: Krispy Kreme at Tacoma Mall (just off I5) When: August 12th @ 11AM roughly Any objections? Jake: Are we still going to that Chinese restaurant? If not, we'll just find somewhere else to go for lunch. This will be fun!
  18. Yeah, I sure wish you could have been there Chris. As for the Western Meet, whether your car is ready or not we are dragging you there.
