Aaron, when you say the cap on the end which end are you referring to?  If you are talking about the rounded end on the tank?  If yes, to me it looks like there is a metal piece there but no grommet on it.

His tank is simply round on the end. The proper tank has a cap on the end. I believe he has to find the correct tank as the cap doesn’t come off (ie the cap is not available as a separate piece). The tank he has will work but to be factory correct it should have the tank with the proper end in it. The tank he has may be from a Cadillac or other GM vehicle.

  2. To buy the covers I suggest Legendary Interiors or CARS Inc as mentioned. They will take a long time as they make them after you order them so be prepared to wait. I got my cloth seat covers from Legendary and very happy with the quality. They look like my originals. I have seen CARS Inc ones too and they look good.

  3. I need to get some buddies over to put the hood and bumper on before I take it out. Not sure when that will happen yet as I’m into my busy season at work. There’s a couple minor leaks I have figure out and deal with first as well. I’ve been sick this weekend so haven’t been in the garage since Friday.

That motor and tranny is a 70 chevelle. You think the vin was transferred from the chevelle?

The 3rd, 4th and 5th numbers of the VIN would be different for a Chevelle. It doesn’t make sense that someone would take a 454 and matching 4-speed out of a Chevelle and try to sell it as a Monte as there’s less value.

I do notice the VIN looks a little odd. Notice here how the 110092 is stamped on a different angle from the other part of the VIN. Has the photo been altered? Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I would certainly want better quality photos of all the stampings. I have questions.

  5. 9th week of 2010 if I’m reading that correctly. At 14 years old there is certainly a risk. A member had an old BFG come apart on the front of his 72 Monte on the way to the Western Meet one year. It did a lot of damage to the car.

I am going to try to make the show. I'll be car-less but it'll nice to meet everybody.

Yes! Lets add add another West Coast member to the mix!

Maybe your car will be ready for the Western Meet in September 😉

  7. It’s all assembled except for the distributor and spark plugs. Just waiting to schedule a time for the engine builder to come by and help with the first startup. The suspense is killing me. Days feel like weeks at this point 🤣.

Hopefully with better results than when the north met the south.

I could have used a tutorial on the different accents in the Eastern US the last time I went to an Eastern Meet. Some amusing miscommunications occurred. I’m certain I sounded funny to them though, eh!
