I was going to post that but I figured he had an aftermarket starter.
True.
I wondered if the spade is removable and simply bolted on to a stud.

Has anybody else had such notariety ? Didn't someone here get their Monte on a Rock Auto magnet ?
Kevin Dyck got his 70 Monte on the Rock Auto magnet.

I have installed the Pertronix electronic ignition in my distributor of my 1970 small block. Is there a problem using my original style coil and 7mm plug wires? I realize there’s an opportunity to upgrade but would prefer to use original style equipment if I can.

Great job Aaron! I’ll be looking forward to my 24 catalog. By the way, my bowtie floor mats have been on backorder since September. Can you pull some strings on that?

There have been a couple others in the club as well. Bruce Stange had his car featured on the CARS Inc catalog I believe. Rod Marin who was in the club was on the OPGI cover once too.

Any royalties?
They should. I requested door prizes and goodie bag items from them and they refused our request.

I’ll see what I can do about that. 🙂

Here’s an interesting note about that image in the 1971 brochure, the mirror was added to the photo after the fact (ie touched up). It is actually a photo of a 1970 Monte Carlo that they colorized and touched up for the 1971 brochure. For the 71 catalog they changed the wheels, tires, hood emblem, halo trim, driver’s mirror and rear SS trim in the photo. The door panel still is 1970 though.
This is the original photo.

Was the driver side remote but not the passenger side?
Correct, only the driver's side was remote.

72 Customs come with that driver side mirror. I think you could get a passenger side as well in Canada, from what I remember seeing here in the past.
My red 71 SS454 I had was Canadian built with the dual sport mirror option but still only rolled off the assembly line with the driver's side mirror. Even at the factory the pass side mirror was rare. I do know of a club member with a black 1971 Canadian built SS454 that has both sport mirrors. It is the only one I've ever seen.

I should add there were other members who stepped up to run Western Meets in 2005 (Mark), 2008 (Jaylene) and 2009 (Jake). They were an important part in keeping this meet rolling.🙂

20 years ago I was working on organizing a 70-72 Monte Carlo meet in Nevada. FGMCC founder/president Kevin Wiles liked what he saw and proposed that we make it an official club meet and the Western Meet was born. I had no idea that I would still be organizing these 20 years later.
That first Western Meet had 6 members attend from three states and one province and was a fantastic experience that I still look back with fond memories.
This year the 19th annual Western Meet will have 30 members from long distance all over the Western US and Canada. These don’t happen without members dedicated to travelling long distances attending these events and I want to thank those who have attended over the 20 year history.

7 months to go. Get your room booked soon if you need one. Only 4 rooms left at the club hotel.

Looking good! The bottom inner fender filler panel behind the front wheels gets installed from underneath and can be done after everything is completely assembled. No need to wait for those.

The reddish fluid is transmission. There’s a few places it could be leaking (speedo cable, pan, shifter linkage). A good shop should be able to find it.
The other fluid looks like antifreeze. It could be the heater hose fitting to the heater core. If that leaks it can run down the passenger side of the firewall and drip off of the floor pan. Are you getting any coolant leaking inside the car on the passenger side of the firewall. Check the firewall under the dash area where the carpet stops and the rubber/insulation is on the firewall. Is that wet?

They will be shipping some goodies out for both meets. One shipment to Ryan in Utah and he will bring the items to both meets.
