  1. I wonder if Year One is any good, or Harwood?
  2. Well I'm doing it! The ZL1 is up for sale and I have a good line on a new tall deck Dart. I wont be happy if I don't do it the way I want to begin with.
  3. I will check US Body Source out, thanks!
  4. Well, the wheels (in my head) are spinning again. I'm thinking about selling the ZL1 block and going with something bigger, maybe a 4.5 bore and a little more stroke. I'm not really looking to make more H.P. so much as bringing the peak H.P. down in the RPM range and picking up more Tq. I think this would give me more longevity and wouldn't have to work the motor as hard. The only bad thing is that ZL1 has kind of a "cool" factor to it, at least for me, and I would go to a iron block because of the $$$ factor. (I shouldn't have went to the track last night)
  5. Going to be in your neck of the woods racing this weekend, Hagerstown MD. Well I guess not to close, looks like about 3-4 hours away. Well if you want to see some Harley Racing and some vintage cars going down the track stop on by... Oliver Rod is definitely a big dog. From what I know they let several senior employee's go and it makes me nervous about what other cuts they plan to make. I'm glad I have my set already...
  6. Just throwing this out there. Talked to a friend that worked for Oliver Rod for many years until last week. Oliver Rod has been bought out and the new owners are making some big cuts. Just an FYI...
  7. Very impressive! I'll bet after you get it broke in you could jet it a little leaner and pick up a couple more pony's. It's gonna be one wild ride.
  8. Well got out this weekend to work on the car, decided that I'm NOT a body guy so I'm going to have to farm out some (maybe all) of the body work. That stinks but it will save me money, frustration, and time in the long run and I will end up with better results...
  9. get the dist recurved? this dosent sound right to me and if the timing chain is off a tooth I wouldn't think the engine would sound right even at 2000 rpm's. Be careful because if the cam timing is off you could risk some major damage. Does the car seem under powered when you drive it and does it sound ok above 2000 rpms? Could be carb needs to be tuned in. It's really hard to say without hearing the motor run. When you set the timing its at an idle and the advance curve should have nothing to do with it at that point. Even if the ignition starts to advance too early when your setting your timing at 30 deg, its 30 deg. Just my thoughts, hope it helps...
  10. Not sure how to feel, The good: Race season has started and we won our class Pro Mod. The Bad: No time or extra money for my project Monte. Life is a fickel beast....
  11. Will the bolt on hood give any clearance for carb and air cleaner? Looks good!
  12. Does anybody have a brand of fiber glass hood they would recommend?
  13. Thank you, that is something I want to know. I don't want to buy something that is no good. I will not be calling VFN!
  14. I will be looking for a good fiberglass 4" cowl hood. I don't know if I should go with the "stock" type rear end set up or coil overs, but thats down the road. Guess I need to get the engine together first... Man, I got a lot of things to do.
  15. That is cheep. After setting the carb on the intake I'm sure it will not fit under the hood. Well today my son and I pulled the suspension off of the frame so it will be ready for sandblasting. I also discovered that the stock stereo has an 8-track player, thats cool. I think I will be selling some things like the complete air conditioning system, control arms, cruse control and the complete 402.
  16. It's going to be close... Your build is very close to mine, I hope to be able to run in the 10's also.
  17. Picked up a carb Sunday at a swap meet, found a Quick Fuel dominator 1050. This weekend I think I will pull the suspension apart and get it ready for sandblasting and powdercoat. And the ball keeps rolling....
  18. LOL!!!Now thats funny... True but funny!
  19. Well today I slid the frame out from under the body. At the risk of sounding like a kid, it was pretty cool. I have never done that before. So now I will start pulling the frame appart and maybe start some of the body work.
  20. You have some good pic's of your Monte... Your right about the blasting, would be much easier just hate not working on my car. I have a big blaster but for a $100 not worth the mess. I guess I could start some of the body work.
  21. Hope to start cleaning the frame this weekend. Going to go at it with a wire wheele for starters and may end up blasting it if I have to. No place to blast right now without going out side and its been to cold for that... Any pointers feel free to share.
  22. WOW! The price of headers has went up since I last looked at them several years ago. I have been looking for some 2 1/8 long tube headers for a BBC and they are not cheep. I thought headers for a Chevelle would fit a Monte Carlo or are some of them different?
  23. Hey Sam, thats what I did a couple of posts ago and it put up a link, I think the link works but would be nice to see the pic's right in the post.
