David
Does anyone know a website where I can plug in tire size, engine RPM info and tranmission info and get a recommended rear differential gear ratio for my application ? Here's why...have ran an LS5 454 with Turbo 400 and 256 rear gears, changed the rear gears to 373. Was good off the line, but now I was reving/working the engine too much on the freeway. I will now be running a LS5 454 with a 200 R4 W O/D tranny, but not sure which rear diff. gears to choose. If I had website to plug in the numbers I could skip the guessing part of choosing rear gears? Any ideas gentlemen? Thanks, David

David
Andreas, Thanks a bunch, exactly what I was looking for, according to Randys Pinion and Gear using 3.90 gears I could go 100 MPH @ 3,300 RPM and 145 MPH @ 4,800 RPM with my setup as long as I have the horsepower to pull it.... I guess will see....;0) Thanks again, David

RARE MC
To roughly get your engine speed (rpm), take the speed of interest (mph) and divide by the tire circumference (ft/rev) and multiply by the gear ratio. Ex: (60 mi/hr x 5280 ft/mi x 1 hr/60 min) / (27" (dia) / (12"/ft) x 3.1416 (pi)) x 3.31 = 2,472 rpm
