1Bad454
I'm installing factory reproduction valve covers on my new engine which has comp cams roller rockers. The valve covers are about 1/8" too short with a cork gasket. I do plan on installing an A/C compressor so I need to make sure that it's not too tall to where the factory brackets don't fit. Any suggestions? One thing to note is that they do have oil drippers as well. Not sure if that's adding to the problem.
Chad
On 5/24/2021 at 12:25 AM, 1Bad454 said: Use low profile poly locks from Crower. These will allow additional clearance for stock valve covers. I'd get a Felpro gasket set from Summit with at least a .150" thick gasket or thicker to give sufficent clearance. Oil dripper style valve covers add to the problem. I'd suggest finding a good used OEM set without drippers and restoring them or get a reproduction set without drippers from SS396.com. You certainly dont need drippers with high end roller rockers. I used Crower roller rockers with poly locks, .156" thick gaskets and restored original valve covers without drippers. After 3000 miles I'm pleased to say it works well and has no leaks.
1Bad454
Thanks for the info. I ended up getting thicker valve cover gaskets and they seem to fit now.
