'1800 to 2500' stall? i've never seen a torque converter spec'd with such a broad range. if it's 1800 rpm stall. .that's nearly stock and you wont' feel it 'slip' at all.

 

I'm running 2500 stall with a 350hp 350 engine, and 700r4 trans with 3.55 gears, and even with that much stall, I really don't 'notice' the slip in 1st gear from a stand still. the only time I really 'feel' it slipping is when its in 3rd gear, near idle, and I squeeze teh gas a bit, but not hard enough to make it downshift then i can feel it slipping.

 

generally speaking, when a converter goes bad, it slips worse.. not less.
