Andy Gargagliano
Can anyone tell me what the correct color is for the exhaust manifolds is for my 70 SS Monte, silver or gray. Also is there a better color process that will hold up better than heat paint. They have been bead blasted nice and clean. It seems that headders and exhaust manifolds are the first areas that want to rust after a few years.Thanks. wallaby
Eastwood has a kit for painting manifolds. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=733&itemType=PRODUCT The Gray is probably the right color: the silver just looks painted, while gray looks like fresh cast iron. That's exactly what I used when I recently repainted the exhaust manifolds on my Chevelle. My advice would be to spray it on if you have a sprayer available. You can, however, apply it with a brush if need be.
John Burns
I had my manifolds bead blasted and used Eastwood's gray high temp coating (spray can). It still looks pretty good, but is beginning to rust in some areas. This "manifold dressing" looks interesting- might try it next time: http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=12556&itemType=PRODUCT
