green_monte
hi look at this link and say what you think of this sound i have run the engine whitout any belts, adjusted the valves and changed the hedder gaskets but nothing helps. the engine is brand new have only about 150 miles on it when the sound started. the sound follows the rpm and is only there when its warm. can it be a lifter problem? the cam is a zz502 roller cam with morel lifters. Murphy
A buddy of mine had a similar problem with a new motor and it was a lifter hitting the valve cover and was only noticed after he was cleaning the inside of the cover and saw a wear mark in the metal.........I think he then installed a thicker gasket?? green_monte
i already have the extra thick gaskets think it is 0,315. if it was the rockers hitting the cover wouldn't it sound loud all the time? when i drive the car so the engine is under load the sound is VERY loud. Murphy
As I recall, the ticking sound developed after the engine was warmed up and coincided with the RPM's. He must have adjusted/checked lifters 3 or 4 times before he stumbled on the issue. He had Edelbrock aluminum valve covers.
black07ss
Do you have a metal inspection cover on the trans? If you do maybe it is hitting the flex plate just a little.
