RARE MC
Ready to order a set of glass. Pilkington (800) 848-1351 will etch new glass with the original LOF markings. My windshild was replaced so I don't have the original markings. Car was built in Van Nuys October 1969. I'm pretty sure my date code is M-74. If someone would please read their 1970 original windshield, I would sure appreciate it. I also need to know which side of the glass the markings are on and which side they read. The one I have has in the right upper: AT (arrow down) S-1 Below it is marked: SHADED E-Z-EYE SAFETY FLOAT ASI [LOF] UV LAMINATED ANTENNA DOT 15 M28 Marks are inside, read outside. Thanks! montefrazer
My 70 was Van Nuys built in January 1970. It is marked inside, at least I coudn't feel anything when I rubbed the outside of the glass, and reads backward when looking from the outside. E-Z-EYE FLOAT SHADED SOFT RAY SAFETY [LOF] FLO-LITE ASI [ ] UT-10 LAMINATED ANTENNA DOT 15 M28 The DOT 15 M28 is about 1/2 inch above the chrome piece on the bottom of the windshield, passengers side. The LOF is in a box between the SAFETY FLO-LITE and ASI UT-10 and runs on an angle, with the L on top and the F on the bottom. I have a magazine article about how to read glass marks. I will send you a copy when I find it. Haven't looked for it in a few years so it may take a day or two. Steve

RARE MC
Thanks for the article Steve, but it seems they got the date code backwards. Your windshield, if original was not made in 1960, 1983, or 1986. Likewise, I was having a hell of a time trying to fugure how I had Dec 70 glass in a Sept 70 car. RARE MC
The glass markings are all wacky: LHD marked outside reads inside TV-10 RHD marked inside reads inside AV-10 LRQ marked inside reads outside TV-10 RRQ marked outside reads inside TV-10 Rear marked inside reads outside AV-10 Pilkington says all new glass is less than 1/4 inch. The M-74 code stands for 1/4" glass.
montefrazer
I may be reading V as a U. The markings are hard to see.
RARE MC
Thanks Steve, I'm real close now. Anyone else have a 1970 windshield with -10 markings in the date code? Date code is to the right of LOF. Tom
