Your # breaks down as follows: 70 - Rochester (all Qjets start with 70 or 170) 40 - 1970 (40=1970, 41=1971 etc) 2 - 49 state application (5=California) 0 - Chevrolet (0,1,2=Chevrolet) 0,2 - Automatic (even #=auto, odd #=manual) Hope this helps. Mr70Monte
7040202 is correct for a 350 (300hp) with a automatic transmission 7040200 is correct for either a 402 (330hp) or a 454 (360hp) with a automatic transmission both carburetors are the same, the only differences are, (1) .076 primary jets for the 350 vs. .078 primary jets for the 402 & 454. (2) air valve spring adjustment for the 350 is 7/16, while it is 13/16 for the 402 & 454. ------------------ '70 Monte Carlo, Forest Green Metallic w/black vinyl top, Dark Green Metallic Interior community.webshots.com/user/wv_moonshiner http://www.cardomain.com/id/mr70monte If you see this car on a trailer, call 911, because it's stolen! Grease
on the big block Q-Jet doesn't the fuel line come into the front of the bowl where as a small block Q-Jet it comes in from the side ? i think i remember now that Chevy carbs fuel inlet is from the right side. other divisions come in from the front. at one time i had been using a carb of off a 455 . that must be what confused me. mike [This message has been edited by Grease (edited 09-29-2003).]
