72' Monte blower motor inop?
Patrick Sheean replied to Wv Wild 72 Monte's topic in Restorers - Archive
The 4 seasons relay only controls the high speed setting on the blower. I agree with Sam sounds like a wiring issue. -
Thanks for that info Dan. I did not know there was more than one manufacturer, someone else on another post said they all came from the same place. Everything on my rear bumper fit just fine, I'm waiting on the front because the powder coater lost my hood latch support. Hopefully it will turn up.

Leo at Konik's Klassiks has just about everything and he is a member. http://koniksklassiks.com/

Thanks as always Leo. Now you know how hard my wife and children have had it living with me. The power slide sounds like more fun too. The original rear bumper was hit by a Ford F250 while in the garage. The brother of the original owner. You can see the bend in the bumper in my old pictures. That may explain some of the difficulty in getting it just so. Anyway the new bumper looks good. As far as bumper guards goes, I don't know about those, my Monte never had them.

Thanks Scott, I did that, I'll do it again with everything a little looser. It was further out before that.
-
Thanks Bill and Murray, yours look great to me. I put my back out again so I have to wait to get under Monte again, on top of that the powder coaters sent my hood latch support to another client in another city, so I hope they can find it or they will be replacing it. I know I can get it closer, when I first installed it, the bumper was further off. I just have to take it easy with my back. Thanks again!

My kids tell me I'm anal maybe this 1/8" thing proves it and the fact that nobody has responded?
-
I haven't had any real problems with OPGI, but I have not ordered much from them. I did receive a trim piece that was damaged and still need to send it back. Please check out Konik's Klassiks, Leo is a member and has always had any part I've needed. http://koniksklassiks.com/

Hey bumper experts. I remember Sam's comment about the bumpers needin some lovin, well I put them in place got it to where I thought it was good, pulled it again and then tightened the brackets to the bumper and then put it back on, then tightened up the brackets to the frame and it is about an 1/8" off? How do I love this into place? Hey Leo! A little help here from the expert. Thanks in advance As you can see it is about 1/8" down on the left.

Great pics Matt. Thanks, it if fun seeing all of that progress.

Very nice! You are further into it than I ever plan to go with mine. Looks good and keep up the good work. I've gotten a lot of good adivce from Leo, he knows more about these Monte's than anyone I've ever known. http://koniksklassiks.com/

Hey Sam, Here is the picture Charlie emailed me of the 70/71 grille. He wants to try fitting it to my Monte. I'm not sure why he wants to try it since Andreas has already used one, but he sounds like he wants it to fit perfectly before the group bye.
-
Yours does look great Andreas, I was just reporting what he sent me in his email. He said he wants it perfect because of the potential sales from our club.
-
Well Michael it is either a compliment on my taste in actors or something very worth reading three or four times?

Larry here we go again. We have not settled the Darrin Stevens issue and now you bring in Rawhide. My personal favorite is of course Clint Eastwood from the series and I've even managed to forgive him for driving a Grand Torino, I think Monte Carlo sounds so much better than Grand Torino. Hard to believe a snowball can form in 80 degree temperatures, yet here it is! By the way I'm leaning toward Dick Sargent over Dick York. I never thought about this before but apparently in Hollywood you need to be a Dick to marry a witch? Have a great day!

Hey guys, I found a color called El Camino argent silver, is that the correct color for the bumper filler?
-
I understand that, but he seems to be unsure of the 71 grille as well. Anyway I hope to meet with him next month and we'll see what he has.
-
Be Sure and get plenty of angle pictures of the grille installed in your car. I have yet to see one installed besides Andreas' powdercoated version. I will do my best.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
Patrick Sheean replied to Paul Bell's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Where in California? SoCal? I live in Paso Robles, let me know. -
Hi guys, here's my $.02. I've been emailing Charlie and live about 200 miles North of him. We are planning to meet half way. He will bring the grille and I will bring the Monte. He really wants to make sure the grille is right because of this club for potential sales. Hopefully February will work for both of us to meet. I'll keep you posted as well. (1971 Monte Grille)

Okay I did not stop. I have a grille coming from Leo and I took the bumper filler off to be media blasted and painted silver. So here goes the snow ball a little further down the hill.

Leo has a lot of sheet metal and lots of knowledge give him a call; (810) 334-4162 or visit his web page Konik's Klassics

Thanks Larry, I agree, I've replaced everything that needed replacing to make it ride nice and stop! The only thing I really need is a Trans rebuild as the car was garaged for a very long time. I like the idea of a 200r to get overdrive for better mileage, but it is a matching numbers car so I'll most likely rebuild the TH350 and it will be good to go. Monte runs really well, compression is all good and doesn't seem to be going through oil at all. I do need to R & R the pan and stop a small bit of oil that drips from the rear of the pan, very minimal though.

I was kind of kidding with the arthritis comment, but thanks for all of the input. Sam thanks for the creeper picture, and Scott, I really don't have to look far my son who still lives in town is a manager of an O'Riely store to boot! And finally Scott Floyd warning received. It would be great to completely go through Monte, but maybe some day in the future. For now it is good enough for me. I really enjoy driving around in it, it is so comfy and rides so smooth. Oakland is not to far away, maybe we'll meet some day? Again thanks everyone!
