Steve, this may be a stupid questions but I will ask it anyway. I really like those ramps. So my questions is this... Once you have the car to the level you want it, can it be locked into that position and the two lines be disconnected. My concern if you can't remove the lines by way of a quick disconnect at the ramp or the foot pump it it may be hard to get under it from the front without the hoses getting in the way. rob

Welcome aboard the boards Dwight. That is a very nice and very original Monte. Don't worry about it not being a highly optioned car, look at it this way, the more options, the more that could go wrong. The good thing about many of the older cars, before a lot of computer driven stuff is they are a bit easier to work on. On my two older cars I can pretty much just dive in and work on them without a lot of assistance. For things I am unsure of on the older ones and on the newer ones I have found viewing a number of "You-Tube" videos. I never just watch just one because there are some out there that just are not that good. In a few weeks we will be holding a large meet in Carlisle, PA. We currently have 52 members registered with me. It is a great way to meet a large number of our members in the same place at the same time and see a large number of first gen Monte's. We would love to see you become a full fledged dues paying member of the club and join us at this large meet. We would love to see you and your beautiful 72 Monte there. rob

Kevin, if I can fit them in my car I would be interested in them. rob -
Steve, if a color like that grows on you you may want to see a doctor real fast. A color like that growing anywhere on you could be an indication of an infection. rob

If you retire what would you do to earn money to buy up all the Monte's in the world. rob

I have told you before, you should have never retired, you have had one health issue after another since you retired. You need to go back to work. Maybe you are sick this time due to getting out of the hot tub and stepping into this late winter like temperatures. rob

So, another TV Show not showing any respect for our First Gen Monte's. rob

Sorry to hear about your heart attack and glad you are feeling better. Like others have said, don't over-do it... ask me how I learned that. Great job on the bracing to keep everything in alignment. Time spent on that will pay off for sure. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Things like that help others. rob

Factory OEM Cruise Control
Rob Peters replied to stangeba's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
That is just the opposite of what I thought. Not saying that is wrong but I am basing my thought on 2 things. One of those thoughts is my Model A Ford has a vacuum driven windshield wiper motor and the more load on the engine the less vacuum it produces. When going up a hill or accelerating there is almost no vacuum produced and if it is raining and the wiper is turned on I have to let off the gas so the wiper arm can wipe. The other reason I felt a load reduces the vacuum is the more things you add that causes a load has people adding a vacuum pump or a vacuum storage canister for extra vacuum. Again, I may be using reversed thinking. rob -
I hope to have an Itinerary for the Carlisle Mini-Meet/2025 Eastern Meet posted here on the site very soon. I also want to make you aware of a seminar I will be hosting at the Carlisle Show Field. This seminar should only take between a half hour and an hour. I will be doing this seminar on gas gauge/fuel sender troubleshooting. It seems many of our members are having issues with their gas gauge not reading properly. This seminar will demonstrate how to isolate the area of the problem. I hope we will get a lot of interest for this activity. rob

I was invited to be in a Memorial Day parade in my 1929 Model A Ford Tudor Sedan. I went to take it out and the battery was almost dead. I got her up and running but it was too late so I fixed a plumbing issue I have needed to fix so while I had the Model A out of the way I fixed the plumbing issue I took the Model A for a ride. rob 20250526_143633.mp4 rob

I got the Monte out early this morning and after church we picked up our grandson, Ryan, and after lunch we headed to the Pittsburgh North Hills where the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall is on display all weekend. As stated before, we had been to the one in Washington DC and it is a sobering place. This traveling memorial is a smaller version of the one in Washington DC but has the same impact. All of the names are etched into the panels just as they are in Washington but in a smaller font. Both walls are in a chevron shaped V. A couple comparisons: The the traveling wall is 375 feet long and DC wall is 493 feet long. The Traveling wall is just over 6 feet tall at the tallest panel and the DC wall is 10' 3" tall at the tallest panel. Both of the walls taper down at each end. When we visited the wall in DC we noticed something amazing. It is a very quiet memorial. With the black granite panels etched with over 58,000 names of our military men and women killed and missing. The thing you notice is nobody speaking in loud voices. With both walls you will see people finding the name of their loved one and taking a piece of paper and a pencil or crayon and holding the paper over their loved ones name they rub the pencil or crayon over the paper getting an imprint of that name. While I didn't get any pictures of the Monte Carlo today (this trip was not about the Monte) but I did take a few pictures of the wall and the people at the wall. Enjoy your family time tomorrow. rob
