  1. We made it home safely, finally!!! Parts of of the trip were like riding a bucking bronco. A couple times she bucked and bucked and bucked repeatedly while on the turnpike and actually completly as we drifted to a complete stop in the emergency lane. We got off the Pike as soon as we could. I now have less than ¹/⁴ of a tank of gas and she seems to have passed what was causing g the issues. rob
  2. Struggling to get home. Gor gas just before getting onto the turnpike and there must be some water or junk in the tank from that gas. Have gotten off rhe Pike because if I end up needing a flatbed it is too hard to get one on the Pike. Going to be singing 'take me home country roads' all the way home rob
  3. Made it to Carlisle with no issues. Only hit a couple sprinkles of rain on the way. We did get some more rain after we arrived but not much and now bright sunshine! rob
  4. Loaded the grandkids into it and we are on the road to Carlisle! rob
  5. Aired up the tires, cleaned and coated the windshield with Rainex and tried to put some wax on her. Got the hood, front end and tops of the fenders waxed before I was soaked with sweat. Packed the Monte for tomorrow's trip to Carlisle. rob
  6. Well, the one is all loaded and ready to roll first thing tomorrow morning. CARLISLE HERE WE COME!! rob
  7. I can't understand a word you are saying but then again, I can't hear you speaking either BUT your typed word using Google to translate is spot on perfect. Hendrik, Welcome aboard as our newest full fledged member of the club. One of our past club Presidents is from Germany. Andreas Kwetkus became our Club President from August 2005 to and served as our President for about 10 years. Andreas currently lives in Florida. rob
  8. It was a very busy weekend and I was a bit remiss in updating the countdown but the good news is we are a couple days closer go kicking off this meet. So when we woke up this morning we had two, that's right we had ✌️days and a wake-up but, now, after today we are looking at only ☝️yep only 1 DAY AND A WAKEUP until our first members will start arriving in Carlisle. Some of our members have decided to start arriving on Wednesday June 18th. I have changed my arrival day from Thursday to Wednesday. Some of our other members have done the same thing. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there. If any more of our members would like to move their arrival to Wednesday, I have talked to the hotel and they will have plenty of availability to accommodate others arriving earlier. Also, if we have any members who would still like to join in on the fun, we do have 1 or 2 rooms available we could free up for you. These are not rooms the hotel is showing available but if you would want one of these rooms please contact me ASAP. Don't wait because on Monday or Tuesday of next week these rooms in reserve will be cancelled. Contact me if you would like one of these one or two rooms. Our grandkids will be coming over to Carlisle with me on Wednesday. They have been coming with me to Carlisle for many years. Them and some other of the kids all have a countdown on their phones for their trip to Carlisle. All our bags are packed we're ready to go, just have to load everything into the Monte and hit the road early Wednesday morning. I think my Monte will be turning 62,000 miles either on the trip to Carlisle or shortly after we arrive there. rob
  9. I also think of him a lot. I had a feeling the one year since his passing was near because I knew it was just prior to our Eastern Meet at Carlisle last year. I know it has to be hard on you and Tom Jr with it being the one year anniversary. Tom touched a lot of people in the time he was a member. Tom helped so many members here. God bless you all. Keeping his spirit alive here at the FGMCC. rob
  10. Always nice to run into FGMCC family members at cruises and shows. rob
  11. Other than my original Monte Carlo the only two cars I really liked that we owned were a 1980 Chevy Citation Hatchback. It was such a versatile car. It was a 6 cylinder and was way over powered. It had factory rally wheels and trim rings and had fading stripes on the side sort of like the Citation X-11. That thing was fast. The other on was a 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 6 Cylinder Diesel. Unlike the GM 350 gas engines they used to set up as diesels without building them properly as diesel, these 6 cyl diesels were designed and built to be diesels. It was heavier than a regular Cutlass Ciera. With the added weight it really rode smooth. The only real issue with that diesel was in the middle of the winter when the engine block heater quit working in the middle of the coldest week of winter. It was out of warranty and they wanted over $1,000 to replace that $10 engine block heater. I ended up doing it and then understood why it cost so much. The block heater was installed on the back side of the engine up high with just enough room between the back of the block the firewall. I could get a 12point box end wrench on it (not enough room for a socket and ratchet) and only turn the nut about 1/8 of an inch at a time. It took almost 3 hours to loosen the nut enough that the heater would come out of the block and when it did it poured anti-freeze all over me and the ground. I was soaked in anti-freeze laying under the car on the coldest day of the year. I had to take my thermal lined coveralls and wash and dry them before I could go back out and install the new one. The temps that day were near zero. Even with that, I loved that car. rob
  12. Thanks Mark, good suggestions. I was just about to post a current weather forecast. so I will tag that onto your suggestions if you don't mind me hijacking your post... Here is the forecast. I will check again on Tuesday to see how much this will change. As of now Thursday looks like the only questionable day. 13. ((UPDATED DAY WEDNESDAYJUNE 15TH)) I wanted to update you on our GM National Mini-Meet. I also wanted to let everyone know that if you have not made your hotel reservations yet, we will lose any remaining rooms in our block on May 30th, that is only 5 days from today. Today I have added new FGMCC Members of attendees and this has brought our new total to 55 members registered with me to attend. Since the hotel has added some more rooms to our block we still have around 5 rooms in our block. We usually get some members signing up at the last minute so it is good to have this buffer of additional rooms with less than two months until this great mini-meet. That said, in a little less than a month from now, we will lose any rooms that have not been claimed. Below is an updated list the members I have heard from who are planning to attend the Carlisle GM Nationals Mini-Meet. With the registration of the below member , we are now at 55 so keep those registrations coming. 16. I always have one in my trunk. Thanks for the reminder Mark, it is very important. rob
  17. Jason, Welcome aboard the boards. We hope you like what you see here and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member of the club. I think we have one or two other members in the Phoenix area. One that comes to mind has multiple Monte's and lives in Surprise, just west of Phoenix. Congrats on finding your High School Monte, it must have been a thrill to track it down and even more to find it in such nice condition, she looks beautiful. rob

    Welcome aboard Alex. rob
  19. No, the Amish don't do full beards, only the side and chin
  20. Yes Willie, I have passed this place so many times over the years and never gone inside. You are right, inside the building there is so much stuff, antiques and collectables. There is something for everyone in there. It is kind of funny, it looks like such a small place across the front but once you get inside you couldn't believe how large the place is. Once inside you realize it keeps going back and back even farther like they just kept adding on and adding on again as their inventory grew. American Pickers would love this place. rob

    Knight's

Many of you who have been to any of our Eastern Meets in Carlisle know for years we have been able to decorate our club canopy with all sorts of things. For so many years one of our members, Willie Conforti has supplied us with one or two Knights. These knights have been decorated in many ways. They have worn a club jacket, they have had cigarettes hanging from under their helmet, they have worn a speedo and been used as a prop for many members and spectators to get their picture taken with. These Knights have helped us win at least two "Coolest Club Hang-Out" Awards from Carlisle Events. I know member Joe Sullivan has a Knight he displays with his car and I know of at least one other member has one to display with their car. Today Patsy and I took club supplies to the club hotel to drop off for the meet this week. I had told Patsy about this little place along US 11 that Alli Di goes every year to buy metal yard/house sculptures and she wanted to see this shop. I had only seen the place from the road and never stopped so today we stopped to check it out. I am now the proud owner of my own Knight, pictured below that I will also display with my Monte. He is about 3 feet tall. We both got a picture with a plastic cow they had there and I couldn't help my self and had to try to milk the cow. From the outside of this place all you see is a fenced in area with the metal sculptures inside the fence but when you go into the business you find it is a room after room of all sorts of antique and specialty items. I highly recommend members visit this place this coming week when they arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. Here are some photo's with the cow: rob
  23. If I wore hats I would definitely go with the Black because it shows off the logo much better. rob
  24. Congratulations to you all, thanks for supporting the club
