  1. Wishing for everyone a Happy July 4th Holiday. I hope for everyone to enjoy your cook-outs, car cruises, parades and fire-work displays. Be safe out there and remember a lot of people will be partaking of adult beverages and then going out and getting behind the wheel. Be careful out there. If you have personal fireworks you are going to setting off be especially careful. I will never forget one time when I was a kid my father bought some "Roman Candles" to fire off and on one of them, when he put a match to the fuse the whole thing blew up. It burned him some but luckily he was not too badly injured. rob ๐Ÿงจ๐Ÿงจ๐ŸŽ‡
  2. Is possible that different assembly plants and maybe even assembly lines within the same plant may have attached that ground wire differently and dare I say deviated from the assembly manual? rob
  3. That ground wire on my 70 was and still is screwed to the body on the drivers side. It is screwed to directly to the gas tank strap mounting bracket. That ground wire is soldered to a blade on the sending unit. The tan wire that goes into the trunk just snaps onto a pin on the sending unit. I guess where the ground wire attaches to the car body doesn't really matter as long as it is a good clean mounting connection. rob
  4. A Chevy wouldn't have fallen apart like that, but of course a Chevy driver would have been smart enough to drive around the fountain. rob
  5. Congratulations Willie!!! So sorry you weren't able to make it to Carlisle but thanks for the use of your Knights. rob
  6. Factory AC was optional on all First Gen Monte's. rob
  7. That isn't anything I have seen. When I had my bumper off I do not remember those slots in my brackets but my Monte is a late 1970 build. rob
  8. Yes, I had already noticed that one. Everyone say HI to Tony D. That is his head and right shoulder you can see. rob
  9. James, With the needle pointing to the 3:00 O'Clock is an indication of an open someplace between the fuel sender unit and and the gauge. Find the tan wire in the trunk (The wire is just to the left of the trunk latch as you are looking into the trunk. It will have a plug connection. Try disconnecting that plug connection. Then take a wire and connect one end to a GOOD ground in the trunk and take the other end of of that wire and connect it securely to the wire going to the front of the car to the dash. Then turn he key on and watch the gas gauge. With that wire going to the front is attached to a good ground the gas gauge should read EMPTY. rob
  10. Larry I think I posted my club award and Carlisle award but in case you didn't see them I will attach them now. Joe has the list of the club winners to post and I think he had Dennis go up to get a listing of all of our members Carlisle Events listing. I don't remember anyone being assigned to take photos of our award presentations so I'm not sure if there are any photos of that. rob
  11. Here is a picture of my new Knight. He is a little over 3 ft high. rob
  12. When you say the gauge is "pegged", do you have a picture of the gauge? Either a photo or if looking at the gauge as a clock face where is the gauge needle pointing. rob
  13. OK Aaron, I was waiting for somebody else to say it but they didn't. I remember photos of your young ladies when they were tiny and not one graduating. You must be getting really old. It has been amazing watching our members children and grandchildren becoming young adults over the years. rob
  14. You nailed it Glen. rob
  15. Not sure if it was the furd or the foreign car show. rob
  16. As they sang in that song.... "Tell us more, tell us more" Dennis rob
  17. Just a note to our club members. The tire marks in the parking lot and on the driveway were not from our members. Those marks are from previous GM Show attendees from one of the other Carlisle Events shows, Our club does not allow this anywhere around our meet locations. rob
  18. Glen, thanks so much for posting these pictures. I see a lot of people with their head under Joe Roman's hood. Joe, how come you didn't get in on the Hard Luck Award stories? rob
  19. That is a photo of just a few of our prime club "ASSets" Thanks for sharing. rob
  20. Usually our grand kids ride home with with their dad in their modern iron. The past two year our granddaughter has ridden home with me and both times I have had issues. Emily things my Monte doesn't like to leave Carlisle and she may be right!!! The time in Carlisle is always too short and I hate when it is over. I want to thank everyone who attended, it was an amazing 5 days for my grandkids and I and already looking forward to next year. I really look forward to and love seeing everyone in Carlisle. I have either hosted a Mini-Meet or planned and jointly worked on an eastern meet in Carlisle every year since 2005, that is 20 years in a row. When we talk about this being our Monte Family, that is truly the case. Our group has watched the DiVirgilio, Talarek and our grandchildren grow up. Attached is a picture of my grandson this year and a picture of him 10 or 11 years ago so you can see what I mean about our Monte Family kids growing. I want to thank everyone for attending this year and when we talk about our Monte Carlo Club Family I want to say I love you people like you are my own family and look froward to seeing you many years to come. I want to thank Joe, CK and Dennis for the special recognition awards presented to me this year and especially I want to thank Larry Gilbert for the award of the beautiful clock he made to be presented to me. As many members here know Larry is an artist at working with wood. Awards and recognition awards: The Honorary Officer Award can be presented to a past officer for their dedication to the club My car was voted by our members as the best Non-Restored Monte My Monte won 3rd Place in the 70-72 Monte Carlo Stock Class I recently went through a project of diagnosing the issue of my gas gauge not reading properly. In my trouble shooting of this issue I got information from many members. So, I put together and hosted a seminar on how to diagnose if the issue is due to a bad sending unit, ground, wiring from front to back or the gauge. The above award is due to of this effort Thank You to the "Black Knight Of Monte Carlo because I don't like to be called "SIR" I tell people I am not a SIR and that Sir is a term of respect I have not yet earned. (They think I will now accept being called "Sir") The above clock was made by member Larry Gilbert. Larry, I want to thank you very much for this honor. You are a true Gentleman and you don't have any idea how much this means to me. Thank you to everyone who attended our Meet this year in Carlisle. We had beautiful weather and I had a wonderful 5 days with you all (Hey Seth, I think I may have received maybe one thing more than you did. Congrats to you for not only receiving top awards AND the club Hard Luck Award ) rob
  21. Chris, thank you for coming over to Carlisle, even if you could only make it a day trip. That was a lot of driving to come all the way from Ohio to Carlisle to just be able to say HI and check out some of the Monte's. After being in touch with you for several years and never being able for the two of us being able to meet up at a local cruise or show it was great to finally meet you. I was in the middle of counting money for the group dinner to make sure it jived with how many would be attending the dinner when someone introduced you to me so when they did I did not even catch your name when they introduced you and I apologize that I did not take more time to chat with you. It was a pleasure to finally meet you. I hope we can eventually get together at a show or cruise and properly meet. rob
  22. What great family pictures of a very proud milestone. Proud Dad moment, I vote for a proud family moment. Just one thing, while I really love the color of your Monte you should have painted it to match the color of her dress, maybe a nice Astro Blue which would have been closer to the color of her dress. All joking aside, thanks for sharing your family moment and congratulations on her graduation. rob
