  1. Sounds good. Your lift should come with the anchors. If possible try to get 5” of embedment in the floor which will depend on how thick the plate on your lift is. It’s very important that you don’t accidentally drill through the concrete and expose the anchors to the soil beneath. If they supply 6” anchors then you may only end up with around 4”.
  2. I know it’s overkill but I’ve got an 84 GMC crew cab dually so I needed 20’ on the length plus the extra width, which forced me into the 14000#. The truck is probably around 6400#.
  3. I paid around 7 for it about 4 years ago with the caster kit and a couple other options. Everything has gone up a lot. Nice building. You’re right on the 2 post if you’re doing brakes or suspension work, or even separating the body and frame. In about 2 months or so I’m ordering a rolling bridge jack for my lift. This will add some versatility. Living in California with “the big one” always around the corner, I’d never use it for storage. I park the Monte on it which offsets the space it takes up, but it’s always down.
  4. I’ve got the Bendpak HDS14X. It’s not bolted and rock solid. The Monte is the heaviest vehicle I’ve put on it, which is less than a third of its rated capacity. I’d probably bolt it down if I was lifting over 10000# which is never going to happen. If you’re considering a 2 post, how thick is your floor?
  5. Very nice. The wheel size is pushing it for my taste.
  6. Let us know if you have to make any changes that require a substantial one time up front fee to get things right Joe. I’ll be willing to pledge $200 towards that fee for the club.
  7. The build sheet. Lucky you! That is in way better shape than most. Leeds plant. That’s where my 71 was built. Wish mine had a few of those options. Definitely file that away.
  8. You might want to order a 71 chassis service manual and a 71 factory assembly manual. They can be quite helpful.
  9. Welcome Chris, it appears you definitely have a better than average starting point.
  10. Was a bit slow a few days ago, but seems ok now. I’m strictly an iPhone user. The only main issue I’m having is posting photos, which started when I replaced my phone about 3 months ago. I get an error and can’t post them.
  11. So sorry to hear that about your family members. Have had dogs all my life. But not many though because they’ve all lived long lives.Have 2 now, which is a first for us, both rescues.
  12. Welcome Richard. That is one beautiful well thought out build. All in about a year and a half too. Please post a few more shots of it outside. Congratulations on a job well done. Thanks for the post. Really enjoyed it.
  13. That was some tuff news to hear. Only 31. God bless him and his family.
  14. Looks real nice. I like your door jamb louvers. Are they plastic or aluminum?
  15. Unfortunately the consensus regarding finding a build sheet from a Flint build car is between slim and none. The build sheets were never intended to be left with the car and the the Flint plant seemed to be the only one enforcing that.
  16. Welcome, looks like you found a nice one. It’s great that the Protectoplate was still with the car. I’d be on the lookout for the build sheet, unless it’s a Flint built car.
  17. What a great deal. Went to 2 good size shows in the last week and both venders were $10 per car for those same cars.
  18. It’s called a rear bumper filler/seal
  19. Mine is a Kansas City car. Spent 52 years in Missouri until I got it. 59,464 miles and fortunately not used in the winter.
  20. Sure is, I was lucky enough to get the same along with a build sheet and 2 owners manuals when I got mine from the original owner. The owners manuals were a first and second edition dated September 1970 and February 1971 (my car was a May 71 build). Inside one of the manuals was an order form for service and overhaul manuals at $4.50 each along with owners manuals for 50 cents each. I later found a second build sheet while doing some work on the car.
  21. So true. We had some elders in the neighborhood i grew up in that were quite well off but were very frugal. As a kid i never understood why. They never had new cars and their homes were average. As I got a little older I realized they grew up during the great depression and they experienced how quickly everything could be lost.
  22. Guilty as charged. I’ve got a lot of crap in my shop, but it’s all good crap. I’m sure when my time comes, my kids will do what a couple of friends did when their fathers passed and get a 40 yd. dumpster. By the way, some of that crap came from those dumpsters.
  23. Rob had made a statement in the “cars and parts for sale leads” section regarding the high asking price that I had to address. It was in regards to what someone might pay for something they have to have. I think I fall into that category. Maybe it was a midlife or late life thing, but I decided to get my first car back. I’ll be the first to admit that I paid too much for mine by a good 10% after negotiating a 2k cut in the asking price. My problem was I was very specific on what I wanted. It had to be as close as possible to my first car. Mainly, year, colors and interior. I wasn’t looking for a project. I’ve been there on a few cars and at my age when I finally finish the 64 Buick that was given to me by a friend about 15 years ago, I’m done. What I found was a real nice original owner car with 59k miles and full documentation that was as close to what I originally had as possible but considerably more than what I had budgeted for. I made a too low offer and was rejected so I kept looking and not finding anything. I kept coming back to this one because it was exactly what I was looking for. My brother had to talk me into it with the “ you only live once” and “you can’t take It with you” and “you know you’ll never find another so close to what you had” crap to convince me, but it worked. Granted, if it was an SS, of which my first one wasn’t, that would’ve been icing on the cake, but in this condition it would have been way out of my league anyway. That was just over 2 years ago and I’m glad I did it. That knot in my stomach from dipping into my retirement savings is long gone. I know i’ll never get my full investment back, but as long as I’m around it’ll never be for sale anyway. My icing on the cake turned out to be finding the FGMCC.
  24. Very nice, the interior sail panels not so much. Needs way more photos of everything, especially the underside for that kind of money. Hopefully that black rug thing on the drivers side is for protection and not covering something up. No mention of any documentation either. Not an SS, so not so crucial. By the way, the description says those tires are BFGs.
