Funny how the missing arm rest pad on the passenger side shows up in a separate photo. Because it’s so heavily modified, calling it an SS is kind of meaningless. After seeing the undercarriage, the term “restoration” can be quite subjective.

I’ve been using the Permatex thread sealant #80632 instead of the Teflon tape. It comes with an applicator brush. Definitely get a 90 on that oil sensor. Maybe someone will chime in on this, but have you considered using a T and running your copper line for the mechanical gauge off the same point as your electrical gauge for the oil pressure? It would look cleaner than having it come off the front of the engine.

They’re under Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories. Been around since 76. American made also. Out here in California you’re lucky to get 3 years out of an out door cover. The sun and wind shreds them.

I’ve always used California Cover. For outside use especially, you really want a model specific cover that is form fitting. The generic covers are too baggy and they tend to flap on the paint in the wind. They don’t offer the Noah anymore. As for mirror pockets, Willie, I ordered the pockets and had a person who used to make boat covers sew them on. The pockets came with instructions on how to mark your cover, and a template for cutting. I got 2 for the Monte and 1 for my Camaro. They didn’t charge for the pockets. Then again I had just given them $425 with shipping for their Dustforce cover. Their outdoor covers would be at least $100 more. It cost me $25/pocket to have them sewn on.

OEM AM/FM Radio & 8-Track Restoration > Need Recommendation

Hemmings Motor News has about 16 listings for radio repair and restoration under Services Offered. -
When I first started looking for my Monte about 2 years ago I came across one that was what I thought to be a super deal. I was communicating with a guy via email who would take at least 2 days to respond. Always apologizing for his late response due to being deployed for work in a bad service area. He sent me a link for additional photos and info but I wouldn’t get a response to technical questions I had, it was like he really didn’t know the car. So I forwarded the emails to a friend who buys and sells cars. He confirmed it was a scam. One sign is the “deployed in a bad service area” statement. It wasn’t long after that, the page with the photos tied to the link “can’t be found”. I ran across a similar MO on another one a few weeks later. This was my first experience at shopping for a car on line. A real eye opener for someone with zero experience at on line shopping. Fortunately no money was ever sent and I was able to get exactly what I was looking from a reputable source.

The looks fresh comment was based on your 2012 Memorial Day photos.

Paint is so crazy expensive now. May I ask what you paid 37 years ago? Being an employee of DuPont were you able to get a break on materials? Was it Imron? It still looks fresh.

Sounds like you’re talking about the sail panels. 3M90 spray adhesive works well. Apply to both surfaces, doesn’t need to be heavy, let it tack up for about a minute then apply the material. You probably won’t need to completely remove your material. I would leave it attached at the top and peal it back from the bottom. This way you won’t have to worry about getting it in the exact same position on the cardboard panel.

Look at that line up of seat belt/shoulder strap buckles.

Pretty bizarre the studios picked such a rare car. At first I thought maybe Puerto Rico was like Cuba with a lot of older American iron. Not the case, apparently Toyota Corolla is a number 1 seller. They also have quite a car culture there.

An historical vehicle parked in front of an historical landmark. Perfect!

Finished Front Suspension on my 71 Monte
Marks71 replied to Whons's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
I’ve always felt there was nothing on the underside of a car that should be highlighted by chrome or contrasting paint colors. I think it should just blend into one and disappear. But this is just my opinion, and we all know the saying about opinions. Personal preference is what matters. Do what makes you happy. -
I see it’s on eBay. Starting bid $1.00. Currently 0 bids. Buy it now for 25k. 9 days left.

I’ve seen it at auto parts stores with the wheel paint. The same color as the ralley wheels.

One thing that can be hard on mirrors is car covers without mirror pockets. The covers I bought for the Monte and my Camaro fit snug and really pulled down on my mirrors. I replaced the Camaro mirror once already, so I ordered up 3 pockets. I’ve been using California Car covers for years but they don’t put pockets on a lot of their covers. You can buy the pockets. They come with instructions and a template on how to mark the cover. I paid a person in town that used to make boat covers to sew them on. If I ever need to replace a mirror in the future I’ll remember the Morris name.

Welcome Steven, beautiful Monte. Sorry to hear about your friend. I see he has entrusted you as its new caretaker. There is plenty of good info here to get you through whatever you encounter. Send us some interior and under hood shots. If you choose, the $25 membership is money well spent.

That’s what I’ve got and I still have 1/2” clearance with the wheel well molding lip. No trimming of any kind.
