  1. Can’t view all the photos, but that looks to be worth checking in to.
  2. When I saw that replacement tag, rust was the first thing that came to mind. They sure didn’t hold back on photos. I looked at all the photos quite closely, zoomed a lot. Underneath is a bit crusty and I saw some things that were a bit concerning. The other thing I noticed while zooming is the vinyl top is padded and I noticed an area where it is beyond the trim. Otherwise it has nice curb appeal. There’s a gold one out there with a very similar paint configuration.
  3. It was called a Super Charger. I see a few available on eBay.

Because it’s federal, I think it’s the same everywhere.
  5. I’ve been collecting for quite some time. Not so much now though. Still have few of the early Hot Wheels from 1967 that my younger brothers didn’t destroy. I don’t have any in packages. I never bought any as investments. They display much better too.

    Curious

I believe vhf was 2-13. uhf was a position between channels 13+2. Then there was a separate tuning dial to get those higher number channels. I thought they were 14-52 for us. All the antennas in our neighborhood were pointed to the southeast towards Mt. Wilson where the transmitting towers were in our area.
  7. Welcome to the club Mark. In a couple weeks it will be 1 year since I joined. Just renewed my dues last week. The dues are nothing compared to the helpful info I’ve gotten from some of the members. Best money I’ve ever spent. Take it from a computer illiterate, posting photos is almost as easy as posting a comment. Looking forward to those photos. By the way, we have a few members that can be quite entertaining also.
  8. I’ve got the same tire size and wheel on mine. That’s the way to go.

    retirement @62

Another thing to consider. Are you married? Is your spouse under your plan, or is she working and has her own plan you could fall under? I retired at my ss official retirement age of 66+2 months. My wife works part time for the school district so she’s not eligible for medical. She’s always been on my policy. When I retired, she was 64, so we had to pay her medical for a year until she could get her Medicare. Steve’s right, seems I’ve been to the doctor more times in the last 3 years than during my entire life.
  10. When our coffee maker died one morning about a year ago, I pulled the percolator out of the camping supplies. My 13 year old granddaughter had never seen one and was amazed how it worked. By the way, if I have a problem with something on my iPhone, she’s my go to.
  11. That’s new to me. I’ve known about block heaters. Was that a factory or aftermarket thing?
  12. You’re right about the photos, too far away to get a good zoom. I noticed that canister on the heater hoses too.I tried to get a closer look but can’t figure its purpose. Assuming it has no real rust issues it looks like a lot of cleaning and detailing might get someone a presentable car to start with. Definitely needs more and better photos.
  13. I’m just throwing this out there, that it just might be the car. Congratulations , well done.
  14. I think between Glen and Steve they both nailed it. Our cars today are about the same age as a Model T was when our cars were rolling off the assembly line.I see younger people at car shows and events, which gives me hope, but nowhere near in the amounts of us that went when we were that age. Even accounting for inflation, the hobby is a lot more expensive than it was 30+ years ago too. I found mine last year with a bunch of documentation because the original owner had passed and his son apparently had no use for it. The times they are a changin.
  15. Welcome Juho! Nice Monte. First one I’ve seen set up like that. If you go with the 8” wheel and the 5” backspace, you can keep those 275s in the rear. They look pretty new.
  16. Good point on the filter extension. I’m sure the deep pan is worth at least another qt. of fluid also.
  17. Looks to be a nice turn out. Thanks for posting. Somehow I knew what the star of the show was going to be.
  18. I’ve been using Valvolines Dexron III. The bottles also say Dex/Merc on them. Do not use type F. If you’re just replacing the 3+qts. that drained for the pan change and not draining the converter, do not use synthetic unless your sure that’s what was in there.
  19. When I service mine, to gain better access to the rear pan bolts and to get the pan out I have to jack the rear of the trans up. After removing the first of the 2 bolts attaching the trans to the crossmember I thread in the longest bolt I can find back in the hole, prior to removing the second bolt. This is a little insurance to prevent any shifting and then having problems with the holes lining up.
  20. That’s what happened to the drive ins in the San Fernando Valley of So Cal. The one we most frequented was about 3 miles from the Van Nuys plant. Which was also torn down to become a shopping center, titled “The Plant”.
  21. My 71 is a small block AC car with the Z14 code. No ZK1. KC Leeds build.
  22. You’re right, they tend to look like a phone booth on wheels.
  23. The only thing I like chop tops on are Model As and late 40s Mercs, otherwise I don’t like the proportions. Probably trying to recover 30% of the build cost. I think there is a photo of that one somewhere in the forums.
  24. I think what Dennis is referring to is the oil residue on the header and heater hoses from possibly adjusting the valves.
  25. Boy do I feel foolish.
