If it hasn’t changed, I’d stay as far away as possible. I’ve never used additives in my oil. In the club archives there is some good info regarding motor oils.

Welcome to the club Jimmy. Beautiful car. I’ve always been partial to blue.

I viable option. Find the nicest one you can regardless of color. When I replaced the dash on my 84 GMC truck, I bought a new GM dash from a dealer. It came in gray. My interior was blue. Using the GM color code, I had the color made using a PPG vinyl dye. Came out perfect. That was 32 years ago. Still have it. Still perfect. Because you have the luxury of it being black, SEM is the way to go. Prep is key. They have a wax and grease remover. ArmorAll (silicone) is a painters worst nightmare.

A lot of options, but no gauge package. It says it’s in the FGMCC SS Registry. Bidding ends tomorrow at noon.

1970 BBC with Hooker headers and steering shaft interference
Marks71 replied to Mike's topic in Brakes and Suspension Tech
Your cylinder heads appear to be aftermarket. Just wondering if the exhaust port angles are identical to a standard BBC head. Just a thought. -
I bought the Ride Tech tool through Amazon to R+R the bushings. Most of the arms I’ve seen have come with bushings, but you will still need to R+R the 2 in the ears of the rear end.

The description mentions it was for air shocks.

Likewise, and as Jim said, looks like a good starting point. Especially for someone entering the hobby on a small budget, allowing them to enjoy the car while cleaning, detailing and addressing the obvious issues one at a time. Buckets, deluxe seat belts, 12 bolt posi and all the docs are a big plus. It doesn’t look like it’s been messed with much. The high dollar stuff like the area between the back glass and the trunk could be addressed later depending on what it ends up bidding to. The first thing I’d do is pull the back seat. Who knows?

The photos of the 2 rallys are from my car. Both trim rings are the same. The wheel offset would affect that gap. My rears have no gap and the fronts have a good 3/4”. If the rears had the same gap as the fronts, then my 275s would definitely rub.I’ve never checked, but maybe they’re aftermarket wheels. Possibly Wheel Vintiques with a special offset? never seen a rally wheel where the trim ring was tight against the wheel face like my rears are. Sorry Courtand for getting a little off track you may have opened something up here.
-
It’s definitely the rear wheel offset that’s creating the rubbing. I see it has the 8” Rallies. The front and rear wheels appear to have different offsets. It looks like the inside edge of the trim ring is tight against the wheel face on the front and there is about a 3/4” space between the trim ring and the wheel face on the rear. Can you confirm that, because it might just be a reflection? Also what size front tires do you have?

The whole car definitely needs a lot of detail cleaning.

I’d seen that listed for months at just over 100k. Then for the last month or so it was down to I believe 79k.

Before you do the air shocks, get a jack on the frame just behind the rear wheel. It may require stacking some short 2x4s to get between the exhaust and the fuel tank. Then raise the rear the amount you need to clear the tire on that side of the car plus a few inches for suspension travel. If you have some jack stands, you could do both sides but don’t think that’s necessary. You may not like the look.

I believe the game was called Concentration. -
Noticed the front and rear seats are different materials. I’m with Rob on this one.

If you’re looking for just the fabric or vinyl materials then SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby OR would be the place. You can send them a swatch of your material and they’ll send samples. If you are looking for originality as far as the sewing patterns, unless you know of a good upholsterer that can match the factory patterns, then you may want to think about going with Legendary or Cars Inc. which ever way you go, it’ll be costly.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
Marks71 replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Finally swapped out the leaky rear shocks for the Bilsteins. Major difference. The ride is not overly firm at all. Went with grade 8 hardware also. By the way Dennis, I made sure the nuts are on top. -
We went to the Vets for Veterans car show with a few friends from town today. It’s a fundraiser for housing and other services for veterans. Small show, maybe 200 including motorcycles. Nice day.

Seems like a reasonable price. When they say 2300 miles on “the build” I wonder what “the build” entailed. I didn’t see anything that looked fresh.
