  1. I used the black/aqua from Eastwood. Used a wire cup wheel to knock off anything that might be loose, and to clean up some minor surface rust. Also being careful not to tear up any of the factory seam seal. I spot primed any bare metal with a dark gray primer that blended well with the existing trunk color. If you can’t get a good color blend then do what Steve did and prime the entire trunk because the color coverage of the spatter is terrible and you’ll use twice as much trying to get it uniform. I spayed at about 12” from the surface to get a good spatter. If you get too far away, you’ll have texture that feels like sandpaper. I think i used 5 cans. It must be sealed with a satin clear to protect it from water damage. If you’re using a vinyl trunk mat, especially a brand new one, try to let the trunk cure for about a week prior to placement. Otherwise it could stick to your freshly restored trunk, especially where the spare tire is pressing it tight against the trunk floor.

A Monte wagon would be cool. And a first. Hopefully Glen can come up with one using his photoshop magic.

Welcome Anthony, beautiful Monte, sounds real healthy too. I’m partial to silver also.
  4. You made a wise decision right there. Beautiful car.
  5. Happy New Year to all members. May your 25 be healthy and safe. 🎆
  6. Is it possible that due to clearance issues that maybe the starter drive isn’t completely disengaging from the flywheel?
  7. Man, someone certainly isn’t wasting any time upon retirement.
  8. I’ve got a simple battery disconnect on anything without a computer. If I’m not using it, it’s disconnected. That way if I choose, the doors or trunk can remain open. Only drawback is the clocks are never right, but that’s what a wristwatch is for.
  9. That’s OK Willie, had Steve not mentioned it, ida missed it too, and I’m not on any meds. I like it Joe! Happy Holidays everyone,
  10. I’m with you on that. I joined just over 2 years ago strictly for Market Place when I was looking for my Monte. Didn’t find it there. Don’t participate in any of whatever goes on there.
  11. The pictures (117) are up with the video. Nice car.
  12. Wow Aaron, you’ve got an eye like a hawk. Went back to the photos to check it out. Never seen that done before. Not too bad of a temporary fix if they were straight. At Least until you could take a second mortgage on the house to get the correct ones.
  13. From the photos, it looks to be pretty nice. That said, the heavy undercoat on the frame and suspension is the first thing I noticed. Can’t believe they don’t have a lift for the underside photos. Can’t see the floors at all. Anytime a dealer is asking, what appears to be a good price, causes me to wonder why.
  14. I’d stay away from brake fluid. I know it can remove paint, but never heard of anyone using it for that purpose. I’d be mostly concerned with not getting that oily residue removed entirely and then having adhesion issues, also as Jim alluded to, possibly softening the plastic. Does it really need to be stripped? I’d wipe it down with a good wax and grease remover then an adhesion promoter for plastics. You could additionally lightly scuff it down with a light to medium Scotchbrite pad. SEM should have most of what you need.
  15. I see the prices are all over the place($15-$50). I kept scrolling down and found Fine Art America, which has a nice oval ornament in the same color and year of mine. Going to order it.
  16. Congratulations to everyone. 👍
  17. I’m going with #3
  18. The first thing that came to mind upon seeing the scoop is the trash receptacle at the exit of the McDonalds drive thru. Would much rather see the bug catcher. Not too crazy about the interior either. Wheels look great though.
  19. Say that fast 3x

Welcome Scott, you came to the right place for anything first gen. Nice find.
  21. I grew up not far from the Van Nuys plant and many of my friends including my brother worked there. It was located on Van Nuys Blvd., a famous cruising spot in So Cal. Right across the street was a bar called Chevy Ho which many plant employees would frequent during their lunch break. Just a thought.
  22. Our 10 day forecast is low to mid 40s at night and low to mid 60s during the day. California, 3400’ elevation.
  23. Will never forget that episode.
  24. Have it on vinyl. Always loved torturing my kids, and now my grandkids with it. My wife too.
  25. Thank you for serving Rob. Congratulation Joe,CK, and Dennis
