  1. Sure would’ve been nice to see it go to a real enthusiast for the 49.5, as opposed to someone just looking to make a fast buck.
  2. 19, it was my first car. A 71. Bought in 74. Paid $2650 off private party. Bought my identical match to it in 23.
  3. That was exactly my first thought when I saw under the hood.
  4. Now that’s a class act right there.
  5. Zero interest in that one. Sorry

Don’t mean to get off topic but I’ve been looking at rolling bridge jacks and I noticed yours. What brand did you choose and how do you like it? If I may, how much was yours? They are quite proud of them. The Bendpaks, which is what my lift is, are about 2K, more than I want to spend. There are others for about 1/2 that.
  7. Yes, very nice. Looks like it’s been clear coated.
  8. You’re right it does. Real nice car. Doesn’t appear to need anything, except maybe the AC. Because of all the mods, the SS moniker probably doesn’t add much to its value over a non SS car. Should be enjoyed the way it is. Too cost prohibitive to get it back to a correct SS.
  9. Assuming that’s a real Z11 pace car, that column shift must be real rare.
  10. I remember that stuff as putty tape. The older RVs used miles of it.
  11. Welcome to the club. Congrats on finding that one. Looking forward to the photos. There are definitely a few here who will help you with the radio ID.
  12. When you say in front of the radiator, do you mean between the grill and radiator(pusher) or on the fan shroud side (puller)?
  13. Yes, when I used to sandblast I had filtered incoming air which creates a positive pressure within the hood.
  14. Yep Rob, you’re right about that.
  15. Well I was hoping to hear less than 3k, so you didn’t disappoint. Of the 3 cars + 2 pickups I’ve painted, the last one was around 1981, using the common siphon feed gun. Everything done in a 2 car garage. I think Gravity feeds came shortly after. Materials have changed since then, so if I do it again, there is research to be done. What with fluid tip sizes, PPE and techniques. Definitely have to get a gravity feed. Ive been working off and on, on a 64 Buick Special Deluxe to use as a driver. Have to be careful not to get too upside down on it. It would be completely different if it were a Chevelle. Back in 91, I worked out a deal with a painter that allowed me to do all the prep and priming on my 84 GMC crew cab dually. I brought it to him blocked and stripped of all trim, and had the bed removed along with the front windshield. I also did the jambs. Got a smoking deal that way, but with no guarantees. Still looks good to this day. Might have done it all myself but the color was silver. Not an easy color to do. Probably never find another painter to agree to do that again.
  16. How much material did that equate to?
  17. When I did mine, i put the insulation toward the seat. I preferred the look of the smooth black surface in the trunk. Not sure if it’s correct, just personal preference.
  18. That clear sure looks like it layed down nicely. How much base and clear did it take?
  19. Beautiful Monte you have there. Congratulations
  20. When I first clicked on it, I kept getting a private Facebook page. Now it’s working. Viewed the rest of the photos, thanks. The price seems more than fare. Real nice unmolested car.
  21. Yes, since it’s not real, the first thing to go would be those call outs. I was never into the clone thing. Oh, I’m sorry, the politically correct term now would be “tribute”. Really???
  22. Go to the technical category and then to General Tech. Page 3, Hood Latch Helper spring. There are part numbers. Sorry for the round about way, but I don’t know how to post links.
  23. There is a post in the forums that addresses that. There was s another spring you can add that fits inside the existing latch spring to give that extra push to pop the hood up from behind the grill. I’ll look and try to find it. Otherwise someone will chime in with that info.
  24. I really like that one.
  25. That’s what I thought when I clicked on the additional photos and nothing happened.
