    Mugs

    Heck Yeah, I'm in!!
  3. Ahh Hah, Now I know why my cable is too long (adjusted all the way up) !! I installed the turbo 400 (previous 350 & 2004r ), which means the crossmember moved more to the rear axle, making the attach point shorter. Who knew!! Never thought they would make the cable different lengths. Thank You Frank! I'm in hot pursuit of a correct cable.

Welcome to the Club! I see you have a '72 Monte. Rob Peter's is from the same area, as are some other members near you. Any information about your car or fixes, we're here to help. Again,Welcome!
  5. I believe mine are non-adjustable. The Chevrolet's have a good negative pinion angle already.
  6. Hi Jeff, When I installed my H.E.I. ,I installed a (12gauge?) wire to the battery side of the distributor from a switched 12v source(off the column). I tucked the original wire up in the harness and taped off the end.
  7. Man, Always sorry to hear those words. Looks like a clean Monte for that price.

    Hi

Hi Scotty, didn't see this post. Nice '70 you have there. Come May, you should look into going to our Eastern Meet in Kentucky. Looks like it's going to be a good show. I'm waiting it out right now as to see if I'm going. Might just come down to see what's happening there without my Monte. Will see when it get's closer to the dates. I still have to do some shake down runs since I installed my new powertrain and the snow flew here before I could get it out on the road. Again, Welcome to the FGMCC!!
  9. Welcome to the FGMCC Scotty !! Hope to see you here on the forums with maybe a picture of your Monte? As said , best @#%* money you'll ever spend, for sure!
  10. Ditto
  11. Wow! Lots of work that really paid off!! Looks great!
  12. Welcome Jeff !! Great to see this. Now it official ! You're in with the best group that own First Gen Monte Carlo's. Again, Thanks for joining.
  13. I'm hoping to get the same results out of my Yukon unit. They use these in almost all of the tall tire trucks I see running around here. Seems to be the way to go. Not many issues with them.
  14. I have a tire cover from an older car I found in a junk yard . I think is the herringbone style, I'll take some pics later.
  15. Reminds of the fires they had in Hawaii . Nothing to stop the devastation. Last time out there, I saw the burnt remains of houses lost up close and just can't believe the underbrush just waiting for a spark to start it off. Same way that year in the Grand Canyon , Arizona area.
  16. I'm speechless!!
  17. I installed the Moser street/strip axle for the extra strength , but did not install C clip eliminator's. Something else to consider?? I can't remember any of my street cars snapping an axle...... guess not powerful enough? Even our '72 Vega with the Don Hardy kit didn't use them, and that car had a 400hp small block with 4:10 gears!
  18. That's not a bad price for an optioned out '70. Oh Dennis, are you on your way to get this '70?
  19. Is yours a 12 bolt rear axle? If it is , you could just upgrade to a good set of axles (Moser comes to mind), a good posi (mentioned above) I have a Yukon, Richmond gear set. I know that you have some stock car racing in Illinois, and there might be a good builder of rear axles in your area too. I know that my gears is above normal(3:73 ratio) but that's what I chose behind the 427BBC I installed &(turbo 400). It's going to be a totally different car after those upgrades.
  20. "Get's the behemoth to a stop" is the best! Yeah, we've seen this one before for sure. For a white paint job, not the best. Wait a minute....... it has the interior stuff for the A/C, but wait, no compressor? Leather upholstered ? I wonder if they have build sheet of it. The brake pedal pad is in the seat belt pocket. Must have "slipped"off.
  21. Now That is one informative video!! I guess I'll need to read more on the labels of the different oils. I think he doesn't like Lucas additives. Boy, I sure do. The octane booster was very informative also. I use that every time I go drive it.
  22. All good questions. Was it dyno'ed before install? What I mean is , was it started up and broken in on a run stand. With 10-30w that is a pretty low viscosity for a 468 in my opinion. Is that what the builder suggested? This means your bearing clearances are on the tighter side of things. I'm running .0023" bearing clearance on the crankshaft and running 10-40w right now (427 cu.in. 454 block,396 nodular iron crankshaft) and 80psi at 1,500rpm's ,and 40psi idling , at 180 degrees engine temp. ,drops to 25 psi in gear. I'm running a hydraulic roller cam. This is with a stewart warner mechanical gauge (copper line). I have the gauge package also, I just trust a good mechanical gauge. This mechanical gauge is coming off the port just ahead of the oil filter, not the one above the oil filter. That one is for the gauge package. If you are hearing clatter on the cylinder heads, that's definitely a rocker arm. You could take off that valve cover any see if there is any up movement on any of the rocker arms. Lots of information, Let's just hope it's something that can be taken care of. Sounds like not many miles on it yet. Your engine builder will help you. A good oil to use for the high Zinc content is Driven oil or Valvoline Racing oil. I used 20-50w in my small block 355, that was almost .003" clearance (.0027-.003") on the crankshaft.
  23. Booked!! Thank you to CK-JoeT for the info. I can't stay all 3 days (whaat?) but I'm good for 2. And nothing better happen again when I fill up, and start to pull out of the gas station this time!!....... (that was embarrassing as all get out !!). I'll be running on the carburetor set-up at this meet. EFI goes on after. I don't need anymore surprises.
  24. I have a set as well, in the GM paper wrap . I don't think I'll be using them. If you are looking for concourse trim, that's going to be hard to find. An old Ebay find as well.
