Same issue when I installed my new N.O.S. clock from Leo. Two tries and it was in correctly. -
Welcome to our newest members.Yup, in just a few months the Carlisle mini-meet is going to happen. It seems this show gets bigger every year. I'm registered for the show and hopefully be breakin in my latest upgraded'72 Monte Carlo. Going to be a lot of new faces for sure. Always a good show whether you bring your car or not.

If these are the Gold style (Thick)rocker arms, then yes, they can hit the covers. I don't know what springs ,lift you have, but the Comp Cam Roller tipped stamped style work well.I used 1.6 ratio on the intake and 1.5 ratio on exhaust. Just make sure of the contact patch is more toward the "middle". I had to use the ultra Magnum Pro style on the BBC because of spring pressure at the nose(385 Lbs) and had to use the 1/2"spacer on my valve covers (Baldwin Motion) so they would clear. That turned into a different Brake Booster to also clear the covers? Dang Snowball effect!!

Larry, when I did mine,I used pinstripe tape (different widths),and it was tedious (40+ hrs) , when I was done, but it came out pretty darn good for me.I always use etch style primer, then the argent silver, and I should have used a clear-coat after all said and done. It's held up pretty well (12 yrs). Problem was ,I had bought a grille out of Tennessee at the same time, and it looks better than the one I put so many hrs into!! I still have that in the attic, just in case! Patience is the name of the game.

The reason that you use an old distributor housing is that it directs the oil thru the lifters. With just a " screwdriver" , no oil goes through the lifters( galley).

That's where I am at for sure. Like I said, it's not going to last long out there being a excellent SS , original and so detailed.

Now that is a good buy right there. You're going to love them, trust me, I know. Have them in me Monte.🙂

I believe that's in the " being a member of the group " thing. Some things change, some things stay the same. -

Going to be one nice interior for someone for sure! "switching things up" ? Can't wait to see the new interior. -
Hi Shawn, the A/C brackets I sent you will have a bracket placement for the power steering pump on the outside (driver's side) bolting to it. I'll get that in the mail ASAP! I noticed it in my box of brackets, and after I sent the others to you I thought "that bracket is for the small block chevy" The Motor looks great. Lot's of suggestions on what to do next. Like I said, we're here to help in anyway. Keep us posted on the progress!

The big question, did you build it or did machine shop do the machining and assembled it for you. They would have a "break-in " procedure for the engine if any warranty. Getting it "primed" is a big deal especially if it has a flat tappet grind camshaft/hydraulic lifters. Mark's write-up is a good one to go by.If you need help on the run -in of the motor,we're her to help you. I just did a break-in of my BBC427 not too long ago. Almost forgot, I think I need to send you that bracket for the power steering pump you see in the picture from Scott S. that bolts to the header. I do have it if you need it.

1971 Monte Carlo for sale. They say a 402, not sure.
420ponies replied to bassdb's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
They could have done much better on that Monte from Maple Motors. They do pick out the flaws so you do know what you are getting. You can call them and they will video anything you want to look at on any car. I've seen some very nice cars ,and some very TLC cars from them in the last 5yrs I have been looking at their site. I stopped watching the video after he pointed out the quarter panel and the trunk holes, loose steering, drifting of the car while driving, and that engine noise drove me crazy (think it's an rocker arm adjustment). The bottom looked good as far as rust. I'd keep looking if I was to buy another. The '70 on facebook someone posted, now that is nice, and a 4spd too boot!! -

Now that looks good to me. I wonder if it was a 4spd car ,or that it was changed over? Be a nice car for someone here. -
I'm glad they let the people who worked on them get first crack at them. Extra special is that Savoy! That coupe sure doesn't sound like a flathead either !!

If anyone is coming from the Long Island ,New York Area to this show,I have a special request. Please PM me about it. I'll give you a hint.............something liquid that is sold in the area. -
Interesting, I think my Monte is a Flint car, and I do have a sheet in the bottom rear seat. It's in poor shape ,so I can only take a photo of it. I know that If I try to wrangle it outta there, there won't be anything left of it. i do some investigating later today.
