  1. I am with you Jake, I a a systems admin, and I have gotten used to doing things one way, and Vista changed a bunch of things, and not so much where they are, but what they are called. We are starting to use Server 2008 over Server 2003, and they did the same thing, made it a pain to do things that were second nature in the past. Tim my new Dell desktop came with the 64bit version, and it is Fast! My wifes new laptop came with the 32bit version and it is not quite the same, but has about the same hardware... I may have to "upgrade" it Ian
  2. I would say if it came with Vista leave it for a while to see how you like it... I have XP or Linux on most of my personal systems. If the hardware can keep up with Vista it runs pretty good. My wife's new Dell came with Vista and it seems OK... I have gotten so used to XP that Vista can be a pain in the rear for me... I did load up my Work Dell with 64bit Vista yesterday to see how it would run, I'll have to get back to you once I play with it for a while. Ian

    new computer

Sam the Mac's are Sweet. My dad went all Mac at the house this last year. I just can't justify the cost difference... If all you are doing is surfing, reading email, and some photos, you can not go wrong with just about any cheaper system... Ian

    new computer

We bought my wife a new Dell laptop at Best Buy, it was cheaper than buying it with my corporate discount straight from Dell. At work we us nothing but Dell and have great luck with them. My last new PC at home was bought almost 3 years ago and is a HP / Compaq. Building them these days is not as cost effective as it used to be unless you are a hard core gamer... You can get a lot for the money buying a prebuilt system with a warranty... Ian
  7. I have been looking at those for when I rebuild the 700 I got out of my buddies Camaro... They sure would make it a little easier to setup the TV cable.. I just read the instructions, and you adjust it like the old 350 kick down cable after you install the new valve body, push the adjustment all the way back, then open the throttle all the way to pull the cable out.. 8. Looks good, are you going to replace the other vac line? Ian

    LOCK-OUTS

Capri next time someone gets locked out let me know via email or call my cell. I hate to say it, but if it is only one person that is locked out, it is more than likely their computer. I do know that there are some issues with the shout box in IE that the developers know about, but are not busy fixing, that can make the message boards seem to lock up. But if you are saying you can not get to http://www.firstgenmc.com I need to know... I personally have just about given up on IE except for a few sites that require it. It is my default browser on all the computers I use, even my kids use it on their computers. It keeps them cleaner longer... Ian
  10. I tried googling for it, and I see someone posted a response on your Dell message board post.. Did that help? Ian
  11. Be sure to post it here when you find out, I need one too. Ian
  12. Jabo it depends on what you are going to use it for, but when I get around to putting my 700R4 behind the big block, I plan on 3.42's in my 12 bolt. Ian
  13. Some of them do not have screen names, I think. Like Andreas said, it would take some work, but could be done.. Ian

  15. Scott why did you not put the bolts into the upright brace? I just got done going thru mine and added all the bolts, including the uprights. I had to drill a new hole as the plastic did not line up with the factory one.. Ian

    pop up blockers

Like I said Ubuntu makes Linux easy these days. I remember the old RH days and yes it was a pain. Even the new RH is a lot easier. I do a lot in the cmd line, but it nice to be able to point and click some times. Ian

    pop up blockers

Then I guess about the only thing that will work would be the Google toolbar. What Linux did you try before? The new Ubuntu works on most hardware right from the get go for normal browsing and what not.. Ian
  22. Tim could the converter be locking up all the time? Ian
  23. The logout issue is cookies... It does it to me time to time... Ian
  24. I did right after the upgrade, but it has been good since I changed it back to send the emails. I will check the support site when I get home to see if it is a know issue. Ian
