  1. A transmission that bolts to a 455 Olds engine wouldnt fit a Chevy engine right? Thanks, Tom

  3. Rough idle at idle could be a timing ussue deffinetly but that wouldnt explain the shifting or the white smoke... You said there was some leaking... did you check more into that? Tom
  4. I had 3.5 on the front of my old Chevelle once driving around on the street and tried to make a turn going about 35... It was a bit of a suprise when the car kept going straight... I know your not gonna be running them on the street I just thought Id through it in there was a funny experience Tom

  7. If I dont hook the wires up then would the trans still work and the converter work like a normal converter? Thats basically what I need to know... Thanks Tom
  8. Hey guys Im getting ready to put a 700r4 and 305 from an 86 Camaro into my 80 pickup with a straight 6... What I need to know is do I have to do anything with the wires that come off the trans? I seen in past posts about the lock up converter wiring harness... Do I need to get this? Can I hook the wires that are already on the tranny somewhere and make it work? Or do they need hooked up at all? What if I was to change the converter? theres one on Summits clearance rack...   9. Hey guys... I am goin to be getting a manual/auto valve body for my TH 400 trans... what I was wondering is do you guys know a good brand to use? and is it easy enough to do that I could attempt it on my own or am I gonna have to take it to a tranny shop? Thanks Tom

  11. Sounds to me like the tranny is bad... as far as the tranny's you got out of other Montes there shouldnt be any difference unless one would be a TH400 or different tail shafts for some reason.. Torque converter would I think be up to you... I would replace it if you have another with the other tranny's though... These guys will prolly be able to help you out better but I tried Good luck, Tom
  12. Well I just got back from checking out the beretta.. seems the drive gear is what snapped... I put the trans into all five gears and it made a noise that sounded something like the trans was turning... The caseing is completely broke apart around the drive gear... Would the entire drive train need to be replaced? I know this might be hard to answer without seeing it.... Thanks for any input, Tom
  13. Hey guys back at ya with another off the subject car question... My cousins Berettas transmission may or may not have went out on him.. what Im wondering is, is there anything I could check to see if it could be another problem... What he says is he was driving the car and it just decided it didnt want to go anywhere at a light... I havent looked at it yet but Im going in about 20 mins... He said there was no real problems with the trans before it just decided not to do anything... Also I was wondering if any of you knew how big of a pain it would be to replace the trans. Thanks a bunch!! Tom
