  1. It was pricey but it looks right and does what I want it to do, so it was worth it to me. Bruce you would have to call the number above. Mine had an aftermarket stereo. The old install was horrible. They cut the openings for the shafts for volume and tuner, plus they did not secure the front speaker on the driver's side so the magnet on the speaker pulled itself into the back of the instrument panel and over time shorted the circuit board. I purchased a new circuit board from Leo as well as new speaker brackets. The owner spent a good amount of time on the phone with me, he's a great guy to work with. Maybe he would be open to a club discount?
  2. Yes it can accommodate a CD changer according to the info sent with the unit.
  3. Here is the contact info Vintage auto radio 888-514-3811 or 262-885-1581 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Central Time Monday Through Friday
  4. Thanks Scott it is good to be home. The radio came from Vintage Radio. What I liked was when I called the owner answered my call and and talked to me. Yes the price is right around five and a half. They build it after you order it. It took about six weeks to get it. Yup that is a Benz in the background. It is a very clean '77 450SL. The amazing part about it is it rides like a Mercedes The MP3 jack is in the rear of the unit. I have mine coiled up in the ash tray so it is hidden when not in use. I just lay my player on the seat when driving. They also make a blue tooth unit that plugs into the aux jack so you can stream without any cables. And if you like talking on the phone through your sound system so everyone within a block of your car can hear every word of your conversation, you can do that too. One problem I had was the previous owner had an aftermarket deck installed and cut the back where the shafts go through. They are one inch in diameter so I used 3/4" PVC pipe and a cap. Shaved it to fit and glued it in place, it worked just fine. The unit has good power, but if it is not enough it has RCA plugs for an external amp. Thanks for the kind responses.
  5. I posted on the interior forum too, but here is the new Vintage Radio. It look original (SS) but is all new inside. Sounds great and looks nice too.
  6. Hey all, back from Turkey and the radio I ordered from Vintage Radio was waiting for me. Got it in, but put out my back, oh well these gray hairs really do mean something. Anyway, thought it came out looking original (if it were an SS) but with the ability to stream music.
  7. I purchased some from Leo Konik a club member
  8. Installed new upper and lower control arms w/sway bar courtesy of Leo Konik I keep imagining that I'm done, but then it isn't true, I realize now that I will never be done.
  9. Thanks, I will have two days for sight seeing and plan to use them well. Growing up my Yiayia (grandma) did not speak English so I learned a little Greek, but haven't used it for almost 40 years. I hope to see some sights preach a sermon or two and then on to the hot spot. I've been doing this for nearly 30 years and love it. 30 years ago when I travelled and told the good folks I was from California they all loved it, now not so much. Again thanks for the prayers and thoughts.
  10. Awesome ride, thanks for the pics, it looks great!
  11. Thanks everyone, I've been in countries when civil wars broke out, I've been is some scary places, but the Lord has always seen me through. The most dangerous part of the trip will most likely be the drive to LAX from Paso Robles. It will be my first trip to Greece, my mother's family is from Greece so I've always wanted to go there, I lost my mom to cancer this year and wanted to go there in her memory. The other place I'm going is a closed country so I won't post it online. I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
  12. Went out and took some photos with a real camera. What a joy to find that the cat had slept on the car last night. She's a sneaky one, but I can't fault her on her taste in cars. I want to thank Leo Konik for all of his help and counsel to get Monte to this point. Also all of the encouragement that I have received from everyone in this club, it truly is an amazing group of people. I'm just going to enjoy Monte now, everything is working and looks good enough for this old guy. I wish we were all closer so we could do the cars and coffee thing together and share our stories. I'm new to the club and hope to get to some of the meets in the future, I would love to get to the West and East just to meet everyone. I'm going on a missions trip in two weeks to Europe and the Middle East so your prayers are coveted, things are really out of control over there.
  13. Great work Robert. Wish my frame looked like that!
  14. I had Monte professionally detailed, it took three days and Monte looks amazing. All I have is phone pics, but I will take some better ones soon. Cruised around with my son and received lots of smiles and stares. Lots of fun!
  15. I picked one up from Leo Konik. Give him a call.
  16. Daryl those seats look amazing and are probably very comfy. Good work!
