  1. OK I replaced my headlight switch recently and saw the ground strap at the headlight switch but did not follow it down to the wiper switch or dash bracket. I'll check that out. Just wondering can one person roll the dash forward to replace printed circuit? My manual says two people needed. John S
  2. Excellent idea. Is the volt and oil gauge a direct bolt in? Also is the oil gauge electrical or mechanical? Also those small screws that you used to jump wires to the new gas gauge look like they are plastic. If so was that to prevent grounding out ? John S
  3. Ground is secure some dash light connections on circuit board appear damaged. could voltage from dash lights be going to temp gauge connection? Maybe time to finally change PCB I read in previous posts to be careful and note all ground connections and make sure they are clean and secure. John S
  4. When I turn on the headlights the temp gauge jumps to the right two marks on the gauge the gas gauge also goes down slightly. Also with car off turning on the lights makes the temp gauge peg clockwise to the 6 oclock position. Any ideas? I know the printed circuit board is a little "rough" I have a new one just haven't had time to put in. If you have any ideas let me know. John S
  5. I had the same 1 3/4 outlet on my radiator also. Local parts house let me browse their selection of hoses and found one that would work. bought hose Gates#21941 and cut 1 3/4" end and used same JEGS connector to clamp together. The angle of the hose matched now all is good. John S

  8. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JEGS-Performance...16&vxp=mtrI found this Think I will use it also John s
  9. I have 70 350/300 hp no A/C + MT I have small radiator 20 3/4 X 17" core I also have 1 3/4 outlet and 1 1/2 inlet. I was able to make it work by stretching lower hose. I'm having radiator re-cored to 3 row radiator and radiator shop is also confused. He says it should be 1 1/2" outlet also. Don't know why two different sizes, do not know if it is good to stretch hose to fit, but gotta work with what I have. If things were different they wouldn't be the same. John S
  10. With the price of copper it no longer is anywhere near $60. Used an infrared temp gun to check temps @ different points on eng and radiator, gauge reads 20 to 25 degrees hot, which was the reason for my concern. A little more than 2 marks on the gauge. Going to put manual gauge in temporarily to test drive for more accurate readings. Still good idea to go three rows considering how hot and humid it is in Georgia. John S
  11. Thanks for the advice. I found one that can do it. Did adding another row make a noticeable difference? John S
  12. I have a 3 bolt cover. I did not know you could re core it to 3 row. I have a 2 row the same dimensions as yours. are there still radiator shops that re core? John S
  13. Can anyone tell me the length and height of the radiator for 70 Monte with MT no AC. If you can let me know if it is a 2 or 3 core. Total measurement including tanks will be OK Thanks John S
  14. Can someone tell me the correct routing of the speedo cable on 70 Monte w/4 spd? Does it follow drivers floor and loop over tailstock to trans, or go over trans then along passenger floor then to trans. John S
  15. I have a 1970 Monte 350 4spd. Muncie M20. The trans was replaced years ago with a 1968 model M20. I am trying to get TCS switch hooked up and working, and my question is this. Can I replace the side cover from a newer model, (1969 or 1970) Muncie with the TCS switch on the side cover and expect it to work? I know someone who has one and want to know if it is worth it. John S
  16. New cover and matching gasket solved problem
  17. After some time waiting to get parts I think problem is resolved. Bought new top cover, new gasket and bail wire. New gasket seemed to be slightly firmer than the one that came with master cyl and the others that I got from NAPA. Drove car for a week with no leak. Take one more ride then it should be safe to repaint brake booster again. I worked in auto business from 1978 to 1989 before there was the influx of aftermarket parts that there is now. I guess it's a learning experience. Thanks for advice. John S
  18. I'll look close for manufacturer got from my local NAPA store, going to talk with them again tomorrow. So far they don't think I'm nuts yet. probably since the leak trail is obvious. John S
  19. I hope someone can help me I with an issue I have with the master cyl., maybe you have had same problem, here goes. My top cover leaks and now I have to refinish brake booster for the fourth time. Here's what I have done. replaced master cyl twice, adjusted bail holddown numerous times tighter and looser, do not want to get it too tight. replaced top cover gasket twice. After all that still leaks. All I can do now is put light coat of silicone on top cover and seal it down. I am clearly frustrated as bleeding brakes and painting booster takes time. Any advice would help, any ideas? Master cyl tilts back it is not level. John S
  20. I think it is called Forward Lamp Harness
  21. The axle code CCF 0903B 1970 chevelle with L48 350 and L34 402 Summit shows 30.063 moser axle. 30.125 was in the car. The rear end I bought w/ 3.31 gears had 30.063 axles in them. They were in bad shape so I used axles in the 3.55 rear end that I bought the car with, they were in better shape. Just wondering if anyone may have come across axles that the c clip groove had wear. John S
  22. What length should axles be for 1970 monte 12 bolt, I get two lengths 30.063 and 30.125 also I rebuilt 12 bolt rear 6 months ago have excessive axle end play book says .006-.020 could groove where c-clip goes be worn? John S
  23. When you replace the gear take note of which way the grooves in the shaft go. Either right twist or left twist. the grooves depending on the twist pull the trans fluid back up into trans or down out of trans and that can cause a leak. I had to change gears when I changed rear ends wasn't paying attention next thing I had was oil leak at speedo cable. when I compared gears I saw the difference, one had left thread other right hand threaded grooves. Put gear with correct twist and leak was gone. Made that way because some cables attach on left side and some on right side. John S
  24. Thanks. I've never used pressure bleeder before heard it's the easiest and best way to get air out. John S
  25. Can anyone confirm some info I received for bleeding the front disc brakes on my 1970 Monte Carlo. It was brought to my attention the button on the back of the hold back valve below the master cyl must be depressed with a wedge or some other way to get a proper bleed of the brakes. Is this true?. I am going to use a pressure bleeder to bleed entire system. John S
