  1. The two carbs are identical and both have an idle circuit. As far as the rear coming in late that is refering to adjusting the linkage between the two carbs to either have both carbs accelarate at the same time or you can adjust it so that the rear carb accelarates first then the front carb comes into play after you accelarter futher down in your travel. This gives you the opertunity to cruise with just the rear carb. At least that is my understanding of it. The secondaries on both carbs are mechanical in that they open at a predetermined position. From the artical that I read from hot rod mag that was posted, I should be getting better torgue at low end. I have a filling that my problem in lost of power in take offs is because of the 2004R. with those 3.31 rear end gears. Ed, If I understand what you are saying? The ratio between the 2004R and the 350 are close enough that you think the lost of power is not in the tranny. And if I install a set of 3.73 or 4.10 I'd have a better hole shot. Now I know I will have a better hole shot with the 3.73 or 4.10 but I am trying to determine what killed my great burn outs. The 2 4bbls or the 2004R. Like a dummy I installed both at the same time. So I can not figure out what caused the slow take offs. I do get a little scratch in 2nd gear so I know I have the power it just not waking up till I get moving pretty good.
  2. Ok here is what I had, TH 350 with a set of 3.31 rear end gears. Was running a stock manifold with a 4bbl rochester quad. I swapped out the 350 for a 2004R kept the same gears and added a dual quad mainifold with 2 600 CFM Edelbrocks. My take offs and low end torge is terrible. I played around with the detent cable. Did not make much change. So I then install the correct lever for the edelbrock carbs and kickdown cable assembly. It helped some but my launch is still bad. Seems to be a bit of a drag on motor when coming to a stop so I am thinking the convertor is stock and not enough stall for my cam setup. Could that be killing my launch? Or maybe it is the gear diffrence from the 350 to the 2004r that has me messed up. What rear end gears would you recommend with the 2004r. 3.31 in it now.
  3. I am with the rest of these guys go get the car. Ask the local sheriff to send a deputy when you go get the car. explain the hostility you had with this jerk. If you are near the St. Louis area I have a cousin who has a body shop here in Granite City IL. He does excellant work. He has done many restorations to classics. I am not going to tell you that he is cheap because he is not, He is resonable and does very good reputible work and you do get what you pay for.
  4. When you say 4 spoke camaro are you talking about picture number 2 because I have that same wheel on my 70 ss?

  9. That Hurts for sure. Line Bore off? Seems like a pump failure would have gotten the rods too. [This message has been edited by busmechanic (edited 11-02-2003).]
  10. Can someone look at this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33731&item=2435209711 and tell me if these gears will fit on my 12 bolt open 2:73 carrier. BTY what series carrier are these 2:73? I am assuming a 3 but I thought I read somewhere that they are a 2 and only good for a 2:73 or 3:08 gears. If thats so that means I will need a 3 seriers if I want to go with a lower gear. I am wanting a 3:42 or something close to that. As always Thanks for any input. ------------------ My Monte's If it sounds like Thunder!!! 14. If the bolt is not visible its gonna be hard too do. I agree that the bolt will more than likly rest where it is at (bottom of block) As far as the gum goes, if it fell down the exhaust side leave it there. When car starts worse case will be a big bubble out of the tail pipe But really you may try to see if it will harden by sitting over night and then go after it with a long pick like a denisist uses.
  15. George That make two of us I did the excact same thing on the fuel gauge. (Loose nuts) I hope Pete does not read this he for sure will have a come back. I need a amp gauge for my SS MC but I am a year from restoring it if you have no takers give me a shout and a price. ------------------ My Monte's If it sounds like Thunder!!! 16. Ed I like that thank you. Great ideal you have also, I may give that a shot in the future. I just spent about 15 hours re doing my cluster. It took 3 diffrent clusters to make one great one. Then I detailed the dash itself. Looks really great for a driver. ------------------ My Monte's If it sounds like Thunder!!! 20. I cann't squeeze front or back. In fact I have to leave the garage door open till I walk around the car and then as I go inside the house I close the garage door. 20 foot deep garage but there is a fireplace on the other side of wall and I loose about 2 feet of floor space. ------------------ My Monte's If it sounds like Thunder!!! 21. The wire that is hot when in the start posistion goes to the inside post. Not sure about the other wire I think it has something to do with the ignition. ------------------ My Monte's If it sounds like Thunder!!!
