  1. Don, I'll send you another email soon, are you near Indy? I went to lincoln tech there, in '82 & '83, for heavy truck repair, but my heart was always w/ gas engines, mainly chevy big blocks Sam
  2. Don, you think that cam is for me, going w/ everything else stock, this car I dont want to thump or anything, just run nice and smooth, the documentation on this car is excelent and worthy of an original restoration, THANKS AGAIN Sam
  3. Don, have any suggestions for a 350 w/ 10.25 comp,(stock '70 350 300hp), doing a stock restoration on a 4spd w/ 3.31 rear gear, stock heads, carb, everything as close to stock as I can, even exhaust manifolds, pure pleasure vehical, smooth idle, I think you know where I'm going but the cam designs of today are way better Sam
  4. Don, sounds good, what the heck are you doing up at 4:00 AM, Sam
  5. Don, My current static comp is approx 11:1, going to the cans I think my comp would drop about 1 point, when I did the math, when I built this engine, I think it came out to 11.32:1, my current piston .030 over L2349F sealed power , forged, and the block has been surfaced twice, not much deck height, maybe .003 or .004 I don't remember exactly, and the eddy's 110cc chamber, if I could afford it I would go w/ the 113cc to keep as much comp that I could Sam
  6. COOL, I think in the long run it maybe worth it, would I want to stay with te victor jr,only a rec port, what is the cc's of the cans comb cambers?, if you like the avitar you can go to my firstgenmc photo album, page 4, and use it thanks Sam
  7. thanks Don, maybe I sould consider looking at different heads, by the time I go to bigger valves and seats, the port job, how much more to step-up? well I have some time to think about it , anybody want to buy some eddy's? Sam
  8. Don, since I bought the wrong heads, what is the best thing to do to them short of tossing them? and will larger valves help, I'm only going to 6500 rpm Thanks again, Sam
  9. Don, when you told me to use the victor jr intake w/ my edel oval heads, should it be a oval or a square model? then have it port matched? my heads are out of the box, untouched, right now w/ a air gap oval thanks Sam
  10. thanks don, ordered parts and repair manuels Sam
  11. I said it before, and I'll say it again, DON, YOU DA MAN!!!!, when it comes to engines, I'll do what Don tells me, when I get my '71 back I'll be putting it back together and taking it apart at the same time, Don gave me a cam grind to try and a intake, I also need to talk to him about my heads and where I'm going w/ this car, I know it's not very streetable anymore but, I WANT lower 11.'s, not interested in hittings 10's Sam
  12. sometimes it's not about how much, in a car that's got a gear that's higher (2:73, 3:08, ect), smaller port, valve size, help keep velocities up, which helps throttle response, remember everything has to work together, on a setup like this a smaller carb is also better, on a car setup like this for street use how often does it see much over 4000 r.p.m.?, all this improves low end torque, driveability, you need to decide what you want first, my big blue barge runs 11.6's w/ a 3.73 rear, ovals, and a conservative cam, did I mention my 60' time are always under 1.55 w/ a best of 1.48 Sam
  13. I've got edelbrock on my 454, work great, they do or did make the G.M. heads, if I build a street big block, I'd use stock iron ovals, great torque & midrange, depending on what you want to do with it, and what gear you're using, sometimes smaller runs better Sam
  14. everytime I try to e-mail wally, it fails, anybody have anywhere else to try? thanks Sam
  15. love my turbo 400, near 600 hp. pushing it, hasn't failed me Sam
  16. I'm looking for repair manual for this trans, being an ex-truck wrench this should be easy to rebuild, but I want to make sure it's done right, thanks Sam
  17. the standard holley is calibrated for a wide range, using one of companies that custom tune it for your application is well worth the money, I got a holley built buy quick fuel for drag racing, put it on a chassis dyno, and the jetting and fuel curve was dead on. bolt it on and go, this is only my 2 cents, good luck Sam
  18. As we were stripping my '71, we found no signs of black paint in the door jams or on the rockers, found the original color on the jams and rockers, mine was built march of '71 in baltimore. Sam
  19. Does anyone know what trans' they put in monte's, saginaw, muncie, borg-werner ? Thanks, Sam
  20. NO,saftey switch only allows the car to be started in park or neutral, lockout prevents you from hitting neutral when shifting Sam
  21. most shifter manufactures have a switch available for there shifter to hook-up back-up lights and neutal safty switches. hope this helps Sam
  22. I tried 2" super comps and they did not even come close to fitting, remember, monte's engines sit farther back the chevells, bummer, but this was with a big block Good Luck Sam
