  1. Looking for a complete Big Block original drive shaft (or) just the original factory front yoke with the dampener. Wanting it for my 71 SS454.
  2. #1....1971 454SS.....vin #138571K146687......Gold on Saddle.....all matching....motor is in-work by Dickie Stagsdill of Rolla, MO. Experienced professional motor man building back to the factory specs as close as possible. Have a pending date for October this year 2021 for restoration and back to original color code paint at Classic Rides Restoration, Linn, MO. No build sheet found as of yet, on top of gas tank or under back seat. Still hoping to find one when interior comes out. #2....1971 454SS.....vin #138571K114217 .....green on green......not matching....present 350 locked up.......but has the original 8 track still on board.....last picture will be her new motor, a previous built 454 as yellow as yellow can get.....Block Stamp is CFS109204, block cast # 14015445. Anyone who can shed any light on the CFS and numbers, that would really be great. Her planned future color, (if I live that long), will be a Tangirene Pearl or Sunset Orange Pearl, somewhere in that range. Car is not matching so can add and play I figured. I hope you all will bear with me as this (these) project moves along, You guys have probably forgotten more than I presently know. I will have and already have had questions about radiators and engine stamping. More to come and Thanks for the welcome.
  3. I found a replacement radiator on market place. supposed to have come from 71 chevelle SS454. The seller said he went aluminum so has had this one for a while and decided to sell. I bought, see pictures. The one in the front is the newly purchased and the one in back is what was in my Monte. The one I just purchased is much taller, I looked in the neck and counted four rows. I looked into neck of the one just taken out of the car and could only count 3 rows. Any help? Both same length but not the same height, is it possible some one installed a 350 rad into the car? Thanks
  4. Motor for this 71 Monte SS, presently sits with locked up 350.
  5. Thanks all, I believe that might well be probably correct about the block stamp, the motor has been built in the past, thus the canary yellow paint scheme. I never knew that was done, (restamp) quite possible, as you mentioned, was re-stamped at that time maybe? Is that something that is or has been done by machine shops? Wow I had read truck motors had no VIN matching. But not any thing about re-stamping. Any hoots... this is the motor which will go into my 2nd 71 SS. Someone at sometime in the past removed the matching 454 and replaced it with 350, the 350 is locked up. So out with it and back to what is suppose to be under the bonnet/hood...454. Oh yes and forgot to mention block casting is 14015445, I believe if I remember that is 1975-90 - car or truck. And this CFS coded 454 came out of truck but is not believed to be original to that truck either.
  6. I have had rims sand blasted and would like to know the correct color to put back on them,
  7. I finally got a good picture of my CFS suffix stamp on the block. Any one? Any idea? I can not find any CFS stamp listed stamping anywhere?
  8. Just reading on tire sizing, see you had rims fresh painted. Do you know or recall the paint code or color. Mine are gone out for sand blasting right now, and then repaint.

When I repainted them, I worked for E.I. DuPont Automotive finishes. At that time I made up a silver BC/CC but don't remember the code or formula. It may have been waterborne basecoat, that was new then. Wow, that was over 31 years ago.

  9. What is a dropped base air cleaner, were did you fine one? Thanks
  10. Wish i could send a picture, but the Monte is in Route 66 Garage and I can not get to the car. But the leak is just down from the filler neck, about 1 inch down on the side of the radiator. There is a glob of previous fix right there and radiator is still leaking or sprung a new leak from the same area. There seems to be a dozen after market rads out there, but which one?
  11. My 454SS needs a new rad, my mechanic says that where it has previously been braised and repaired is common to the radiator. It can not be permanently fixed to last? It is now leaking at the previous fix and not even under load. I looked at all the after markets and there are so many...which one do I choose... which one do I need? It is an AC car and 454 is being rebuilt back to original as close as possible. Thanks
  12. I was hoping that it was a CPS, but I went back to it today to double check it. It is a CFS stamp, i can clearly see it. I have found looking in the Lime Book...if stamped CE...that means it was a replacement motor for the original that was under warranty
  13. Yes I have scratched my brains try to find the elusive CFS
  14. it is still in the truck, has a high rise eldenbrock and I can not get behind or under. Thanks
