  1. ok I finally have the wix 3 way filter on order. Does it need to be placed close to the carb? Do you keep the oem metal fuel line and add some hose to the end of it? What fittings would I need to interrupt the fuel line and connect the filter like this? tightened the secondary plate adjuster 3 quarter of a turn and wot bog is gone
  2. Digging up an old thread here, but can anyone tell me if the reflection in these CIPA sport mirrors is any better than stock? i think the glass is too flat on the stock mirrors and it’s tricky to reverse into my tight garage
  3. I like my nk4 wheel, but I’m still not happy with the horn, might try the spring trick myself. Yeah the forum is gold, there’s nothing like it, you can drill down to obscure details of these cars and someone here will have seen it before and have the answer you need!
  4. great info thanks again guys. I do have a charcoal canister behind the driver side headlight, I'll check it's connected to the tank. So with a Quadrajet, do you think I should be replacing my fuel pump with one that has the extra feed? The car is driving great, the only issue is slow response on wide open throttle - it bogs if I push the pedal hard, which I like to do, a lot.
  5. It’s a 72 and the tank does have the side vents, so I think the cap should not be vented. Any ideas where this pipe should lead to?
  6. I meant to ask about this unconnected line ages ago - should this line be connected to anything? Also I need to replace my fuel cap, should it be vented? How can I tell if my fuel tank is already vented? cheers.
  7. Haha it has been lashing for 3 weeks straight! Usually April - June are the good weather months here. The Monte seems to suck up dirt too
  8. thanks sensei Rob! Two hot starts this morning, not a problem 😁 finally, time to drive
  9. Ok guys here’s an update… I was stationed in Shannon in the 80’s when I … only kidding 😁 I placed the solenoid on the chassis. You would think there’s loads of space in a Monte but to hide it and be able to access wiring, not so much. Happy with this spot. Nice chunky 1 gauge cables going to battery, and battery terminal on starter. All the small cables have lots of space away from the exhaust and block to keep cool. I soldered what I could but most are crimped and she started first go yesterday. The real test is a hot start, so I need to bring her for a spin when the weather stops being so Irish ☘️
  10. Thanks Ed you’re the man! Summit must be selling off the older version. I’ll solder it in, and heat shrink the connection.
  11. Rob, it’s a quality hijack, keep the stories coming I love it!
  12. Very interesting careers you guys. Since Ukraine, Ireland are discussing our neutrality at the moment. Personally I think it makes sense to contribute to European defence if we depend on them when the bad guys come knocking.
  13. The kit is 30203, but the download manual doesn’t mention it. Here is a pic of my instructions and a diagram. It reads: ”PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE DIODE PROVIDED IN THE KIT MUST BE USED IF YOU HAD A WIRE GOING TO THE R TERMINAL. CONTINUOUS STARTER ENGAGEMENT WILL OCCUR IF IT IS NOT USED. INSTALL THE DIODE USING THE SPLICES AND HEAT SHRINK PROVIDED, WITH THE STRIPE TOWARDS THE COIL AS SHOWN BELOW.” solder might not be an option because I’m lying under the car and the wires are barely past the starter.
  14. Ok guys I’m supposed to add this connector to the ‘R’ terminal wire, or it will be permanently on. Do I just crimp the connector wire as if it was a normal copper wire core? Any tips here?
  15. That’s great lads thanks. So the purple wire is on the ‘S’ terminal, and the yellow is on the ‘R’ terminal?
  16. Timing’s good, it’s only when the engine is hot. Cheers. Can anyone enlighten me what these wires are for? I can’t see any purple wire, or any color except dirt and Chevy orange overspray! Obvs the fat wire is battery pos, but what about the one on top of it, and the other two?
  17. I hope the cables help. The old ones look rough. The new ones are 1 gauge
  18. Suspected heat soak Joe, hard to start when hot. I’m replacing the cables too, and just added a red top optima. I wish I bought a mini when I replaced the starter last year, but i ain’t changing her again now! (Unless I get headers later)
  19. Hi lads, looking for a good spot to place the painless remote solenoid kit. There’s no room in the firewall. Is it ok to drill two 3/16 holes in the frame? (see photo). Or it might fit behind the battery on the strip of metal behind the headlight. Any suggestions?
  20. The curves on that fastback mmmm sexy! I have photos of your Monte saved on my phone because I was playing with the idea of removing the trim but leaving the wheel arch chrome. I think it looks more ‘muscle’ and it looks great, but the original trim look is growing on me more over time. also my lower trim is a bit wrecked, I’m trying to hammer it straighter, but it’s a bit diy! Not that practical to ship it over here because of the length of the pieces. I think if I get her painted I might call Konick and get her done. beautiful cars Wayne
  21. just takes longer to fire Scott. Interesting because it seems to help if I keep my foot on the gas pedal while turning her over. Maybe that’s pushing fresh fuel past the hot stuff? I’ll check that, if I can move the line I will. Many happy returns to all! 🎅 🎄
