  1. boy and when and if you do that make sure you get very educated about them...there are some amazingly good fakes out there..right down to the fake build sheets..it's big business in the Chevelle world ( we joke that there are probably more LS6 Chevelles now than were built)....there are a couple of guys out there who specialize in these cars..hook up with them before you pony up to an LS6...here's one registry.... http://macswebs.com/registry/index.htm
  2. a real LS6 motor would cost a fortune...
  3. Royce is this supposed to be a numbers matching car? If so be careful what you play with because unlike the Monte's messing with a numbers matching Chevelle can dramatically affect the value. If it's a numbers matching LS5 with documentation (build sheet) it's a pretty valuable car (an authenticated build sheet is the only way to prove it's even an SS, everything can be faked, whole different big money world from our beloved Monte's). If it's the real deal and you want to play with it then pull the motor and bag it, don't modify it. You can get a complete 468 motor from someone like Mark Jones that makes an easy 560hp, runs on pump gas and costs less than $6000.....
  4. for the bucks the Hitachi-Style is good....on the Velle I have a MSD gear reduction starter that spins faster than the motor idles...
  5. good man....can't get complacent in your line of work... no tuning really other that playing with suspension settings and launch rpm's...I just put fuel in it and charge the battery...Scott set it up pretty tight...maybe it's getting broken in...
  6. ah you'll make retirement, just remember your vest.... car hit 139 this weekend....woo hoo....it's a no drama car, you'd enjoy making a pass in it...
  7. cool...only a month away....wish I could be there....
  8. Rob has a lot of friends here but I'm sure FGMCC is not the family's top priority right now....when things calm down I'm sure someone will update us....
  9. thanks Steve...I'm anxious to hear how it runs....
  10. thanks Scott...now go put your motor in....
  11. glad you're doing okay Darren....let's see....a convertible....is it an LS6 4 speed too?
  12. thanks Scott, yes I knew Robyn, his ole yeller ran great....couldn't agree more...you can spend $5000 on the right parts and $10,000 on the wrong ones and 5 will beat 10 every time...
  13. no your eyes were spot on Dave.....on the initial hit it started to spin (a little move to the left) and I thought that's what it was going to do and then bam it hooked, it surprised me but then I thought oh okay...this is going to be fun....
  14. if the pressures were right you shouldn't need to do that with a typical cam. I don't know when you bought it but they have had known core quality issues which they will quickly deny. I had a set of their "premium" roller rocker that all but froze up, I think I'm done with any Comp products....I would suggest Isky or Lunati for a shelf cam....
  15. hey just let me know, if you need a place to stay we have plenty of room too. We could probably sneak you in there for a pass or put the stop on and slow it down a bit if you want to be legal...hell we could use it to license you if you wanted to get one....
  16. no kidding, I walked by there Sunday morning and was drawn in like a moth to a light....
  17. everything is nice at this track....the concessions even has a full breakfast menu.....
  18. you and my wife both...she hates those porta potty things......gotta keep the crew chief happy....
  19. well when you figure them out you can come out and drive mine....the lights at Woodburn are giving me nightmares.....a TNT would be good, it's hard to push them in elimins.....
  20. thanks everyone, we're looking forward to some new experiences up here. The area we live in is very beautiful, it's sort of Oregon's wine country, a lot of vineyards around here (we have some vines in our backyard). Dennis so far the weather has been very good, the track elevation is lower than the tracks I was running at so the DA hangs in there better and you get good baro's. The humidity is higher so that cancels some of that out but it's still on the plus side from what I was use to.....as far as making it faster, I could put a solid roller in it and pick another 70hp or so, that would probably get it into the 9.30's or maybe even 20's...if I did a 150 shot then 8's.....
  21. just wanted to keep you all up to date. Made my move to Oregon (Lafayette) and made it out to Woodburn this weekend (about 30 minutes). I had also run there the weekend before as well. It is an awesome track, well cared for, well maintained and the track prep is great. Car has been running great, it seems to really like it here. Friday the car was really hooking great, all the 60' were 1.33 to 1.35. Between Friday and Sunday (took Saturday off for a grandson's football game) all 11 passes were in the 9.60's the best being 9.61. The best speed came on Sunday at 138.88....here's that pass..... hope you enjoy...
  22. it's racing..it's supposed to give you fits....
  23. get well soon Rob....get out of there as fast as you can....prayers sent...Dave and Red...
  24. glad you got it running Scott..should be tons of fun.....
