  1. Thanks for all the input guys!!! I do have a local guy that will custom the exhaust for me I just have to decide how to run it. I like the turn down better than straight out the back but, does anyone have a pic of pipes exiting behind the rear tire? Thanks, Mike
  2. Hey everyone, I am looking for some ideas on my 3" pipes after the mufflers. I really don't like the standard straight out the back chrome tip look. I am thinking about exiting either right behind the rear tire or right in front of it. Either way, I want to get it done this week or next since I am currently running without anything past the mufflers. Anyone have any ideas or pics I would appreciate it!!! Mike

    Oil Pan Lesson

I thought the same thing on mine Sam. My car is in paint right now but as soon as it gets out I will get the new pan on and see where I am. Just knowing that other people here are running the same pan tells me if it doesn't fit then I have other issues. Mike
  4. Man, if that's being quiet I would hate to hear/read something from you that wasn't so quiet.
  5. That has happened to me a couple of times but has cleared up since. I wrote it off as a server thing on my end but ti was a little frustrating at the time. Mike
  6. Photobucket What kind of issues are you having?

Jacob, I have to agree with everyone else here. You need to get involved with as much as possible working on your car. The warranty thing will only get you so far and unless you have deep pockets, eventually you have to get in there and start turning wrenches yourself. You have to start somewhere and you will definately learn as you go with a little research and posting on this site you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Mike
  8. My plastic ones were wasted so I went with metal too so I wouldn't have to worry later with cracks. Mike

    Oil Pan Lesson

Truth be told I bought the pan when the engine was being built and I installed it while it was out of the car. Once I put the engine back in I did check fitment, a little, but was kind of excited to have the engine in so I didn't take the time to do a thorough check. Hey, I'm human and I make silly mistakes all the time. I will weld them up when I exchange the pan and maybe get a few bucks for it, if not it can always make a cool flower pot or something. I don't think I can get away with returning it as shipping damage. Maybe someone will read this and it will light a spark for them to double check their newly installed pan. Sam, you have the same Miloden pan I listed above? Mike
  11. Whoops, I learned a valuable lesson. I installed an oil pan from Jegs (first link below), only to find out that my inner tie rod grease fittings punctured both sides of the pan. After I installed the pan it looked like it fit fine but I guess I didn't swing the steering far enough to find out. Anyway, I am planning on purchasing a Miloden pan this time (second link below) and hope it works better than the Jegs one. I take the blame because there is another BB Jegs pan that looks like it would fit since it has a front that isn't as deep to clear the tire rods (third link below). 12. Thanks for all your input, I was incorrect on Dixie having them for our cars, they were for the Chevelle. Anyway, I will go through the members here to get one. Thanks Again
  13. Well, if they are the same as the Chevelle then there are many places to get them. Dixie Monte Carlo list them for our cars but the discription says it also fits a 70 Chevelle & El Camino. I didn't know there were 2 sizes available, other than the radiator opening would they both fit the same? Also, I appreciate everyones input but does anyone know if they are the same as the Chevelle? Mike
  14. Anyone know where to find a new/repo 70 radiator core support? Are the Chevelle's the same? Thanks in advance, Mike
  15. Very nice start, seems as though someone loves you (first pic). Mike
  16. Man, sorry to see that. No spray at the time right?
  17. Alright guys, I went through the old threads as best as I could and didn't find a whole lot of info regarding the best fit aftermarket rear bumper. I have listed a few sites below with their prices and I have heard a lot about Goodmark, but, do their rear bumpers fit properly? Has anyone out there purchased a rear bumper that had a great fit and good quality? I found 1 old thread that had Leo talking about the cheaper ones being just that, cheap and not fitting properly. The one I took off of my car was a cheap one (not original) and needs to be replaced as it is in need of re-chroming, straighting & is surface rusting through the chrome on the rear of the bumper. Any help would be appreciated. 18. I don't know, mine are pretty thick but 1 in particular is warped. The problem is that with brand new paint I am affraid they will stick out like a sore thumb. Mike
  19. Why am I having such a hard time searching for subjects/threads? I try the advance search but I still have trouble since anything older than 1 month won't come up for me. I am trying to search for any thread on repo rear bumpers and who recommends what, but as I mentioned all I can get are current threads that have to do with just about everything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mike
  20. Anyone know if they reproduce those outer plastic pieces that are on the rear fender extensions? They are basically on the outer sides of the extensions. If so, where I can I get them? Thanks, Mike
  21. Thanks for the info guys! When I bought the car the springs were so wore that the back tires would rub so I put on Moog CC's and air shocks for a quick fix. Still running the air shocks temporarily until I can decide on a good rear shock. Also, I am running a 10" converter with a 3400 stall on a TH400. Tires are Goodrich Radials. Thinking about rolling the rear fenders to fit a larger tire. I just thought someone out there was running something aftermarket, Competition Engineering for example, to help with traction. I was trying to avoid different gears because I run the interstate every now and then. As mentioned before, I want to keep the rear sway bar. Thanks Again, Mike
  22. I knew this was going to happen but since I finished the 496 and got the car back on the road, I have traction issues. The rear breaks loose with very little throttle. I am running 12 bolt 3.31 posi, new boxed upper/lower control arms, all polyurathane bushings, 245x60-15 BF Goodrich Radials & new rear moog cargo springs. My question is, other than drag radials what are you drag strip guys using for aftermarket traction parts where you can still keep your rear sway bar? Most of the stuff I see doesn't allow you to keep the sway bar such as ladder bars. Does Competition Engineering or someone like that make anything that works good for our cars? Thanks, Mike
  23. Anyone have any idea where to get front fender bolts where they don't sell a whole body bolt kit? I am looking for the factory style bolts that are tapered on the tip of the bolts. I believe they are 3/8" and maybe a few are 5/16". Thanks in advanced, Mike
