  1. you might need to change out the engine mounts and shift the crossmember back a few holes as well. the 700 r-4 will require a shorter drive shaft and posible alteration to the crossmember "not sure never did this" oh th gas pedal cable to the carb will need changed as well year one sells them for sb400 "you might want to double check on it" as well as the emergency brake cable intermediate and hangers "should be three of them" this is all i can think of hope it helps you alex ------------------ hmmmm the sound of wrenches turning and... slowly out from the garage emerges a luxury muscle car that is anything but... it is.. the monte carlo with a new edelbrock performer rpm power package and new 350 block stroked to 377 cid.
  2. hey dave look under the general section on the topic of how to id rear end ratios it is made by me covering all years "this is only true if your ratio was not changed since it came out of the factory.... hope this helps alex ------------------ hmmmm the sound of wrenches turning and... slowly out from the garage emerges a luxury muscle car that is anything but... it is.. the monte carlo with a new edelbrock performer rpm power package and new 350 block stroked to 377 cid.
  3. one good note to remember is that when puting in the rear main seal make sure that the halfs are not flush with the cap and block otherwise oil wil go right by it also find a good sealer to put around that section make sure not to put to much otherwise your bearing will not crush properly any question e-mail me allen. ohh on the pan if it is dented from lifting up on it see if a small hammer may straighten it out otherwise replace it.... chrome is good ....lol hope this helps alex
  4. thanks david72, I stand corected then but i beleive though that the modulator is adjustable i will have to look more into this then time to crack open a chiltons. let you know what i find out. sorry about the misguided info iceman
  5. hey iceman, your problem is most likely the full vacuum location of your vacuum line. since it see's full vacuum all the time and you have a "possibly" a big cam in it when it warms up or when you are revving it for the break in time the modulator fails due to too much vacuum on the valve. move it to a timed vacuum port on the carb to see if it clears up. or see if it is ajustable and adjust the valve accordingly i beleive they are adjustable. hope this helps ------------------ hmmmm the sound of wrenches turning and a air impact gun going... slowly out from the garage emerges a luxury muscle car that is anything but... it is.. the monte carlo with a new edelbrock performer rpm power package and new 350 block stroked.
  6. on the interior color there "should" be some info on the body tag about what color the interior originaly was and you can figure out on what the colors are according to that. or if you haven't got the build sheet or info on the body tag you could get the restoration package from cheverolet 1-800-222-1020 you will need the vin number for your car "lower drivers side windshield vin" they will send you a package on your car so that should contain what color the interior is. hope the helps out. ------------------ hmmmm the sound of wrenches turning and a air impact gun going... slowly out from the garage emerges a luxury muscle car that is anything but... it is.. the monte carlo with a new edelbrock performer rpm power package and new 350 block stroked.
  7. hey there ed if your wanting to make it cooler and less likely to overheat and save the life span of your engine i would suggust going to either a three or four core radiator "if you dont mind not keeping it 100 percent original" then go with a 4 core be cool radiator. or you could switch to a higher gph water pump from edelbrock or whichever you prefer that should bring your temp down a bit also check to see if the fan clutch "if you have one" is working properly if not that could also be a reason on your hot car so to say ------------------ hmmmm the sound of wrenches turning and a air impact gun going... slowly out from the garage emerges a luxury muscle car that is anything but... it is.. the monte carlo with a new edelbrock performer rpm power package and new 350 block stroked.
  8. it may just need cleaned up and some internal parts replaced year one does this for a fee and it comes back looking brand new i am not sure on the price but i think it cost 40 to 50 bucks plus it has a warranty with it i beleive. it would be a lot easier "wont have to hunt one down or order one unless its cheaper" just an idea.
  9. hey all there is a tool to remove the trim the chevy dealer has it or you can go to autozone or what not it is called window trim removal tool "beats me but they call it that" it may very from state to state on what the call it but it catches the clips that hold the trim in place and pops the trim off of the clip. well i hope this helps out or use the old style tool "walla the brick" but i doubt you want to resort to that lol... ------------------ Keep the Monte Carlo going strong run over the micromachine rice rockets that think there all that..... lets se em survive as much of a collision as our cars do hee hee heee
