  1. I'm in colorado springs. Been nice all week. Hitting about 50. but last week when I pulled the trans and motor we were working in 15 degree weather with high winds. defrosting breaks for our hands every 30 minutes. haha
  2. haha, Thanks for fixing my pics. What did I do wrong when I inserted them?
  3. A cubicle with a view no less. haha
  4. Hey guys, Just a quick update and pics. Steel inner fenders are in the mail. Waiting of Continental to get back to me with stall reccomendations. Trans is still being built in the meantime. But the engine bay is empty and interior is out. Im actually happy with what I found when I got the carpet up. the majority of the pan was still in great shape and very solid. I knew the Drivers side was toast. Was hoping to save passenger side. But once I started cleaning with the wire wheel alot of holes opened up. So im just doing them both while I have the interior out now. Heres the bay without the inner fenders. and the fenders On the upside they both came out very easily because almost all of the outer lip bolts were broken through the plastic. haha That silver piece is an aluminum patch I made to cover up the heater box hole. Next on the list is to clean up that 40 year old wiring nightmare and get that booster out. On a side note I decided I have the very FIRST smart car ever. It is helping to pay for its own restoration. When I pulled up the carpet I found this underneath. A 1970 quarter, haha. Its not much but at this point every penny helps. Check back,More pics to follow in the next few weeks.....
  5. Been in touch with dave over the past few days and got my fans from pull and pay today. Thanks for the advice BOb
  6. Haha, Like I said, I hate you all in such a great way. Because Im loving getting all this done. But I need some opinions, OPG or Goodmark for my inner fenders. 20 dollar difference, but with 110 in shipping from summit thats almost half. Any reason I shouldnt go OPG?
  7. I hope your proud of yourselves. Im selling anything not nailed down to pay for this snowball you gave me. haha. I blame you for this... Why isnt my motor sitting here? About to go in... My 468 should be sitting there. haha. And heres the projects staged to go in, Jeep steering box, Hydroboost, Electric Fans, And the Steel inner fenders are in my shopping cart now. I hate you in such a great way. haha
  8. Hey Bob, My local pull and pay has a 2000 grand prix. Could you elaborate a lil more and how the installation went? Wiring wise? Did you just run a line to the fuse block? The wiring is all thats holding me back from going electric fans
  9. Im cleaning up the engine bay while shes out. Thinking of getting rid of my ugly old fan shrowd. Anyone have experience going to electric fans? Is going electric pump mandatory when you do the fans?
  10. Well this snowball effect you guys speak of is already in motion. Pulling the motor today. Then decided since I was in there I would do the inner wheel fenders. Mine are all cracked. And I figured hell, Ill just go all out and do the jeep steering box conversion too, haha. Luckily I recently sold a couple things that boosted my budget up a grand. So now Im selling anything not nailed down. haha
  11. Sounds good guys, pulling the motor it is. haha. Will def make it easier to put my new hydroboost kit in. tehehe
  12. So I pulled the trans to swap out with my new beefier one. And to have out to replace floor pans. But the motor now leans back till the distributor cap is against the firewall. I normally just jack up the pan and rest it on a board for support but now I need to have her towed to body shop. Any suggestions on how to support the rear of the motor in transit? I was thinking maybe a ratchet strap from flywheel up over the motor to frame. But worried about putting that upward stress on the flywheel and seals and such. Any ideas? Have you encountered this before? Should I just put in solid motor mounts and be done with it? What are the benefits of solid motor mounts? Thanks Will
  13. GOT THE CAM SPECS!!!! You have the bulk of the motor info above. Here are the exact came specs. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. @.05 Int 234 Exh 242 Lobe separation angle 112 intake centerline 107 overlap 14@.05 lift Cam installed at 107 Heres the build sheet just for [you said a naughty!] and giggles. http://s1336.beta.photobucket.com/user/Will_Bogert/media/Louis454_zpsc57d40b0.jpg.html Still think I should go higher than 3000? Thanks for the advice!!
  14. Just ordered my hydroboost. Thanks for the tips and photos
  15. After several unanswered emails and calls I spoke to the builder today. He said he would check his files and get back to me in a few days. Hopefully he wasnt blowing me off. More to follow
  16. Gears...3.83 w/ posi. So what should i do other than pull the cam?
  17. Unfortunately all I know about the cam is it is custom ground. The engine was built to go I to a 70 chevelle. But the guy changed his mind. So the builder helped him resell it. So I picked it up for a grand under build price. Here is the engine info I have. 530 to 585+HP "502 Eater From Hell" 454: Heavy duty 4 bolt main block, fully machined (cleaned, magnafluxed, shot peened, bored, honed, align honed, square decked) fitted with ARP main bolts, brass freeze plugs & new cam bearings. New Scat steel crank, HD "H series" main and rod bearings, TRW forged pistons with graphite coated skirts, moly rings, Scat 4340 forged steel rods fitted with huge 7/16 ARP bolts, aluminum rectangle port Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, ARP head bolts, gasket matched Edelbrock Victor series intake manifold, chrome moly push rods, custom hydraulic roller cam with light weight "Transfer bar" roller lifters. Aluminum roller rockers, Double roller timing assembly, Nodular iron harmonic balancer and new flex plate. HV oil pump & HD drive, Chrome GM timing cover and chrome oil pan, killer Quick Fuel Technology 750 carb, new HEI ignition with Moroso HD hold down. Engine is fully balanced to within 1/4 gram and is assembled with stainless steel bolts builder reccomends minimum of a B&M Holeshot 2,600 or 3000 to make it a 'real tire shredder' I have the 2600 Holeshot now. Trans guy suggests to to the better continental with balloon plates. Going manual valve body because breaks are weak now. Suspect lack of vacuum, doing hydroboost kit as well. Trans guy says the b&M in there could fail and cause some serious damage. I know this isn't much help, but aside from pulling the cam its all I got.
  18. Hey guys, Got the trans being built by a local guy thanks to your reccomendation. Th400 Manual body, forward pattern. He reccomends a continental converter with balloon plates. I'm not against it for the piece of mind that the whole drive train would be beefed up. While deployed my build sheet was disposed of. So I don't have the exact cam specs. Builder recommended 2600-3000. Said 3000 would be a real tire shredder. I'm gonna run hoosier slicks out back. Is the 3000 stall too much? Thoughts or opinions? Thanks Will
  19. Yeah, I took everyones advice and found a guy who guilds local race trannys. Going with a beefed up TH400 that can hold 800hp, forward pattern manual valve body, and custom continental torque converter. Spending more then I planned but the extra strength should be worth it. Looks like I just may not get as much done on the interior as I hoped. haha
  20. Sorry, heres the Pdf from edelbrock showing the different years. http://www.jegs.com/InstallationInstructions/300/350/350-5204.pdf
  21. I was looking closer, he has part #5204 here http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pts/3460322413.html 5205 is list for different years. Will 5204 fit on mine?
  22. Awesome, well Ill def pick up those arms if the guys on craigslist still has them. How important is brand in the sway bar. Hotckis is over 300. But the best, which brand is more reaosnably priced?
  23. Hey Guys, Going to be installing air shocks and el camino springs soon. Came across a set of Edelbrock 5204 lower control arms. Listed for 100. Figure while Im under there I can used the extra traction. Do they provide a noticeably benefit? Opinions?
  24. The dash looks great. I was looking at the Dashmans site and saw lots of prices for individual gauges and calibration. How much did that completed dash run you?
  25. I completely forgot about that tech info section. Thanks alot, its extremely helpful.
