  1. there may also be more than 1 correct color , i have seen load pumps black phosphate and anodized gold , never really tried to figure out why , i worked 25 plus years in the auto industry , we changed suppliers and processes thru the builds and what was built on monday could be changed by friday , i have a nos pair of 67-69 camaro air shocks and they are gloss black and still in the box???? most original coil style gm shocks i have seen are dove grey Leo

  3. the tripple black car i have is equipped with , power bench seat ,tilt , tach and gauges , power windows , doorlocks , and air , it is a major project and in rough condition , i have a couple other black 71 ss cars but not factory black , one is a canadian built non air car that was originally white , white top , and blue interior very rare color combo now it is tripple black , maybe someday i will go back to original color scheme but they do look good in black dont they Leo
  4. honestly most 71ss cars that are black were not from the factory i have owned several and only 1 was a true factory black car Leo
  5. not so sure on the markings but i will take a look , could be a random part id , i dont think they marked ss doors from other doors just doesent seem feasible to the production process , i will take a look at some of the doors i have and ss cars , i have seen alphanumerical marking on a lot of body panels , and have found no tie to rpo numbers Leo

  8. the rubber pads were used to give the car a luxury feel , and isolate the shift from the feel of the car , the manual shift monte carlos did not have this pad and the chevelle was not sold as a luxury car , i have chevelle crossmembers monte crossmembers pads and brackets and bolts Leo

  18. tranny came from me as a core to rebuild , it moved a truck down the road that was the only guarantee , the reccomendation from me was to rebuild prior to installation Leo

  20. thanks all , Scott could you start the poll and see what we come up with , i have a local trans builder but i am building the car in Michigan and Jimmy lives in Flordia , if there is a problem i want Jimmy to be able to deal with it in the future as shipping or removing the trans for repair and warrenty is not feasible if i use a local builder , we are looking for other club members experience with aftermarket transmissions , customer service , personnel experience , problems encountered THANKS MUCH Leo
  21. i think gm added the metal backing for a reason , if they were not metal backed the window would dig into and displace the strip , tear it off the car with repeated window use , i have this problem with the repo glass to glass seals they are way to soft , i am not at all impressed with any of the soft trim i have seen but if it all you can get you have to work with it Leo

Jared that is the problem , there are thousands of chevelle and camaro buyers out there , you can buy any part you want made in the usa for a 55 chevy , there are just not that many montes being restored to give you that buying power in numbers, jaylene dont worry i have lots of good used sets these seals are at the rear of the back glass the inners i have hundreds the outers are the rare pieces as weather gets to them , it was a part not many kept when doing the EVIL parting of the monte , another Evil monte parts guy had a set on ebay did not bring 60.00 so i guess they are worth say 40.00 i can just see the big after market companies rushing to get the molds made lets see sell 100 sets =4000.00 yep thats sarcasm sorry im just shakin my head EVIL Leo the dog of parts ps Jared yall getting evil to j/k
