I failed to read the entire thread before posting my reply, but I put some good info in here, so I will leave it...Sorry! I would highly recommend the 4L80E over the 4L60E simply based on the weight of the vehicle and the physical limitations of the 4L60E. The cost to properly build a 60 is upwards of $4k including converter and it's limited to ~600hp. The 80 can be built to 600hp limits with less than $2k in upgrades. The cool thing about the Silvy SS/Escalade PCM is that you can segment swap in the 4L80E controls when you have the VATS disabled and you will be good to go! Trans crossmember/mounting will be custom, but that is it! As for hood clearance, I cannot attest to that, but my recommendation would be to find a cheap stock LS2 car throttle body and intake manifold and swap that on. They look far better aesthetically than the truck manifolds and have better top end. The Vette/GTO intake manifold is a direct bolt-on to the LQ9's 317 casting heads. The injectors and rails will all need to come from the car intake for sure. The Fan controls are simple as long as the Silvy SS/Escalade PCM is 2005 or 2006. If it is 2003-2004 it will not have the controls as those trucks had clutch driven fans. You best bet would be to have the harness modified by someone to match your project so the necessary wiring can be removed or added or shortened or lengthened to work flawlessly in your install... The best option for an oil pan will likely be the stock C6 LS2/LS3 Corvette wet sump oil pan, as long as it clears your engine cradle. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/C6-Vette-Rear-Sump-Oil-Pan-Kit-SSPK-P10994.aspx

I think it will be fine unless the oil sample comes back with bad news...If not, you said it, he has enough to choose from otherwise! He won't bring the Willys Knight though, I called him a chicken!

That is the funny thing, we don't know yet...The valve spring may have broke as well, the valve could have stuck somehow, we don't know for sure yet...

Hey guys, my dad is feverishly trying to get the Monte done before zero hour so he can make it with the car...We just got done with the engine build and within 75 miles after break-in, there was a dreaded "tick" and we think it's possibly a bent valve. Dad started tearing down the driver side head after a compression test showed #1 to be pretty much dead. Once the oil sample comes back we will have a definitive on if anything else (bearing wise) is bad...If everything is good, we will replace the bent valve and get it all done for the road trip! Evil is done and ready to rock! So even if the Monte ends up not making it, we will still come in Evil for the meet...

Okay, cool! I just know he loved the Vinyl top conditioner I applied to his car last year...He emailed me once and then I never heard from him again so I wasn't sure what was up! I'll bring what I can to Boise and we will go from there!

Royce, I'm not that far, plus two friends of mine are some of the most well respected Gen5 Camaro tuners/builders around! I can get all the parts and a tuned computer and install them for you...your Camaro such has a lot left in it with just a few mods!

Don't worry, I made plenty of jokes at the Canadians' expense! I kept telling Aaron to park in the "Canadian Parking Spot" while pointing at the handicapped spot...just one of the many jokes!

The drag strip was a runway at the local regional airport...no VHT, no prep, it was not a good day! Tim wasn't even allowed to heat his drag radials with any type of burnout! The length was not even an 1/8 mile....it was longer by far! There was no MPH, no 60's, nothing but a Finishline ET

I had a blast hanging out with everyone! I will be coming with dad next year to the Western Meet! Whether I bring the Trailblazer or have a Monte by then, we will see!
