  1. Not that it matters but I would vote for Peggy Sue, but I am being selfish, it is close to me about an hours drive. LOL
  2. Hello Robert: I got the diagram you e-mailed me. Love it that makes it so easy to understand. Thank you bunches. Bob
  3. Thank you Robert, having the color codes helps. I am running the stock steering column. Your message mentions to see (Diagram G on sheet 2) were do I find that. I am trying to trace the white wire now from the brake switch, do you know where the other end connects. Thank you, Bob
  4. Thank you, I will try that tomorrow. I was not aware that the brakes wires ran up to the turn signal. Thanks again, Bob
  5. I need some help. I have lost my brake lights, They were working fine and yesterday they just stopped. I do have turn signals, tail lights and flashers. I have replaced the blubs, fuse, & brake switch. I could use any suggestions and if anyone has a wiring diagram for the brake wiring that would be great. Thank you, Bob
  6. Well sorry to say I will not be attending the Western Meet this year. My daughter picked that weekend to get married. So I will be traveling to Colorado for her wedding. Sorry I really wanted to attend it.
  7. I would make sure you read the forum posted after this one. Do not toss anything away. You can not replace a lot of stuff.
  8. I priced having having rally stripe stencils applied to my car and found a painter that did it for the same price. $400.00 striped and clear coated. You might want to shop around.
  9. Well I contacted the guy on E-Bay about selling the kit without the tach. He will knock off $100. Not sure if that is a good deal. Will have to think about it.
  10. To jump in here, I am looking to get rid of the idiot lights and go with in dash gauges myself. But I do not need the tach as I already have a new one. Can anyone tell me where to buy just the gauges. Thank you, Bob
  11. Mine worked fine when I bought the car. Then about 2 months ago I could not turn off the washers. Then after another week or so I could not even turn off the wipers. I disconnected the switch on the dash totally and the wipers kept working. So about 2 weeks ago, I replaced the entire pump and motor. So far all is well but not sure I want to turn them on to find out if they still work. LOL
  12. I can tell you the 200r4 is a drop in and the 700r4 you have to cut the drive shaft down.
  13. I installed new Moogs a few months ago. I had hopes that it would raise my back end up as it seemed to be sagging. Well after installing the new Moogs, it turned out to be the same height as before. So I am looking at doing the El Camino springs now. Anyone want to buy some new Moogs LOL
  14. What year El Camino springs are we talking about 1970 or what?
  15. Thank you everyone, a lot of good ideas here. I will do some further research and decide what I am going to do. Its to bad I did not ask this question before I just put the new Moog springs on the Monte.
  16. Ok, what does everyone think is the best way to raise the back of my car. I have already installed new Moog springs and new standard shocks. The car still sits low in the back. What is best way to raise the back of the car, air shocks, coil lifters or what? I like the smooth ride it has just not the sag. And I have been told air shocks give you a rough ride.
  17. Sounds good, would like to hear from someone who has had him do theirs already. Then I would need to figure out how to take mine out of the dash. LOL
  18. Ok here is a question for you. I installed a 200R4 transmission in my Monte behind a 350 SBC. After I did this I no longer had a working speedometer. I checked the cable and it turns fine. The speedometer worked before I switched transmissions. After driving it for a month this way I noticed something strange today. If I am going down the road and shift into neutral the speedometer works just great. It even reads the same speed as my GPS. But the minute I shift back into gear it goes back to zero miles per hour. It makes no difference if I am doing 30, 40, 50 or 60 miles per hour. It reads perfect in neutral. Any Ideas are welcome. Bob
  19. Hello Mike: Thank you for the offer. But I just received a control arm and stuff from Joesph in Ohio. So I have everything I need now. Just need the time to install it. Thank you, Bob
  20. I am always amazed at all the great information the members like Rob have and share on this site. Its like calling the factory and getting the info you need. Its great to have such a talented group of people that go out of their way to share what they know with others. I just love this site. Bob
  21. Thank you again Bruce: I will look into that, and I can add a ground with out any problem. I was surprised to see only 175 Montes ever came with cruise control. Maybe its worth more to sell it and buy a new unit. LOL
  22. Thank you Bruce, since I posted this I have checked out the cables better. seems the tubes are ok and not kinked as he thought. And I hooked a drill to the cables and they turned fine. But looks like one end is not there. So at worst I may only need one cable. I have not looked in the book yet but will tomorrow. Thank you, Bob
  23. I just purchased the entire cruise controls off a 1971 Monte for $15. He had everything except the turn single handle available that has the button on the end. But I think I can just put a button on the side of the steering post that will work. He also bent and kinked the cables to the speedometer and to the transmission. Does anyone know if these can be replaced with something other than the original ones. thank you, Bob
  24. LOL love that tiny little trailer. I have a frame mounted tow hitch that came with the car when it was new. I am planning on putting it back on the car. I hope to find an old true tear drop trailer that needs rebuilding and restore it to go with the Monte. I think matching paint jobs would look great.
