  2. My 3:73's witht he 700R4 is only running about 2750RPM's at 72MPH
  3. yes just below where the twp wire plug is
  4. On my 72 when I just looked in where the flat/ black kinda square plug with two wires I saw a white base where the terminals are sitting and when I used to rebuild the old Alts. that was the color of the internal regulator.

    Starter

That's an offset. If it was an inline the bolt holes would be straight across form each other instead of staggered, I thought my starter would work on either one. The housing had 3 bolts holes and the bolt kit came with 2 long bolts and 1 short one.
  6. My 72 has Richmond gears and they work well. I have a 700R4 tranny with 3:73 gears so 3:42's should be a good setup for a TH350.

    Starter

I replaced my starter with a PowerMaster Performance 9100 series from Summit. Around $126 if my memory is working correctly. No shimming needed on my car just bolt on hook up wiring and turn key. Works great.
  9. My 70 I bought in Sept 69 had no emissions either. Also a Van Nuys car ordered in Pendleton Indiana Sept 20, 1969. My 68 Nove two years before had a air pump with lines going to the exhaust manifolds. Nova 325 horse 327CI Monte 265 horse SB 400CI.
  10. After putting on the new dist. cap and plug wires the 72 acted like it had a miss. Son in-law came up Sun and we checked pulled the dist. cap and it had dust in it. The dust seem to have came for the rotor cap as it had been rubbing the inside of the dist. cap. Put the old rotor back on and cleaned the inside of the dist. cap with electrical spray and the miss went away. We also pulled the valve covers and rest set all the rocker arms. He had to back then off over 1 1/2 turns to get them to rattle a little. He tool them down to where the rattle left and then another 1/4 turn. It seems to be running a lot better and sounds real good too.
  11. Yes it is. Accel Part number 8141R. Summit has them but I got mine at Advance auto parts for $50.99
  12. Check this thread it shows how it can be done. "Made one of these today" it was just a couople of threads belwo this one when I posted this.
  13. I started the 72 up a little while ago and man does it ever sound good with the garage doors closed. Glendia came running out because the last time she looked about an hour before I started it the spark plugs wires did not have any ends for the dist cap. Here is a view of what he finished product looks like. http://s270.photobucket.com/albums/jj86/leghome/?action=view&current=distpix.jpg
  14. A couple of real small flat scrfew drivers did the trick for me.
  15. Installed the new rotor cap and dist. cap. Now I need to finish the plug wires. Also started working on the new/used inner fenders I picked up about a month ago. They are going to look new after I give them a coat of Wizards Black Renew. That stuff is really making them look new all over again.
  16. got a tach cloth for 3 dollars We sell tack rags every day for $1.25 and 12.25 for a dozen
  17. Got all of the new Taylor plug wires routed to the Dist cap and the Moroso Plug wire router things installed. Those things are really making the engine compartment look a whole lot better. Now to get the new Dist and and rotor installed. Had to take a break that bending over the fender is hard on this old mans back. I need my son in-law to show up and help me finish up.
  18. Have not worked on my 72 lately but did sell several Model RR items Sunday and now have money for Monte parts. YEE haw
  19. I's say it has a few holes in it.
  20. Sounds like your flexy is on OK. I used to build those GM gear reduction starters back in the early 80. I was never impressed with them. We had a lot of problems with them and I do not know if they ever got into production back then because I left that area ASAP. I worked int he starter dept for 11 months and it seemed like 11 years.
  21. Hopefully it is only the starter like mine was. Put in the new starter and then I had to replace the flexy cause the guy I bought the car from put the flexy in backards. The original starter had a problem and when I took it apart I could not get it back together. I used to build and rebuild starters for GM but these baby aftermarket things is a breed of a different cat. All the gears were good until I put in the new starter and that is when my son in-law and I found out the flexy was bakards.
