To maybe get this post back on track...
If I remember correctly; back in the mid eighty's when I was restoring my silver 71 SS. The upper moulding was listed as a different part number but discontinued . Actually all the SS only items were. Hockey strips, that moulding and emblems. I think that is upper only moulding.
My initial thought was that only the upper one had the wide notch and the bottom would be the same as the 70 trim with the little V in the centre. I have now seen evidence of the 71s having the trim with the wide notch for the lower piece.

There are a couple members that rebuild these and even make their own parts.

Maybe not as rare as I thought. It seems in 71 the upper and lower all had that notch so it can fit on the top. The 1970 only had that small V cut in the centre.

We know who the 'long distance' award will be going to, 👍
I’m not eligible since you have to drive the Monte to the meet to get that award

KWick Vehicle Transport. Great guy and a member of the FGMCC. I know a few members who have used his services with great results. He has both open or enclosed trailer options. I would trust Kevin with my car.

What's with the Chevelle style vinyl top and incorrect mouldings. 🤔
Sometimes the dealers would install vinyl tops like that.

I poured some maple syrup on top of the hearer box so it smells like Canada when the heat is turned on. 🤣😂

Yes, that’s it. Jim flew out here and drove it 1,700 miles home.

My engine (L48 300hp 350 4-barrel) casting number is 3970014. In the By the Numbers book it states this was in a couple 1970-71 Camaros and some 1972 cars but not much is known. The Monte stamping would typically be 3970010. My engine had never been out of the car and the date codes all make sense.
Cast date code Sep 27, 1969 (I 27 9)
Stamped build date Oct 1, 1969 (1001)
Car build date Oct 14, 1969 (10-14 on build sheet)- 6
Carburetor base gasket
