My72Monte
I removed the rear seat yesterday and I found this bolted to the body behind the backrest. It has some sort of foam gasket on the bottom side and it's completely sealed up. Didn't know if it's some sort of noise dampener or resonator for something. Maybe from an old TSB for droning or body rattling? Anyway, I was just curious if anyone knows. I'm sure it's been asked here before but couldn't come up with anything on search. Maybe I wasn't looking at the right locations...anyway, here it is.
stangeba
It's part of the whole fuel tank vapor / emissions / charcoal canister system on 71 and 72 model year. I believe it condenses the vapor back to liquid fuel. There are many (4 or 6) small hoses at the top ft of the gas tank that are all part of this system. My72Monte
Thank you for the quick response! We wondered if it had to do with fuel but we weren't sure if it went all the way to the tank or not. I appreciate it! I knew I'd get someone knowledgeable to answer it for me, lol. Did they ever have it on any other vehicles, because I've never seen it on anything before.
