#SMatching71
Good afternoon, My father and I are restoring a #’s matching ‘71. The previous owner of the car cut up the floor shifter hump to allow for an aftermarket shifter. We have a replacement pan to be put it but here’s my question. Did the factory weld, rivet, or seam seal the 4spd pan in? Looking to duplicate factory. Thank you in advance for any advice. Pictures are appreciated! - Mike and his dad
MC1of80
Hi. My brother and I are also restoring a 71 factory 4 speed 402 Monte. We just did what you are trying to do. Is yours a console car or not? The 4 speed humps are different shape but same method of installation. The hump is spot welded around the the outer perimeter. Then sealed with some seam sealer. For whatever reason the entire hole that the 4speed hump covers on the floorpan itself is cut out. Hope this helps.
orbit
Any measurements for placement of the 4 speed hump
MC1of80
I will check with my brother. He usually writes all that kinda stuff down. If I remember correctly, the new hump will only fit in one position on the tunnel. I know we have the measurements for the bucket seat mounts.
