502ci
Yes, here's a thread from a while back that should be helpful...Click Here Bill
NazztyMonte
Thanks Bill.....So , you keep the same hindges and just change the springs ?
680HPStroker
Same hinges, and your old worn out hood springs. The key phrase is worn out. If your stock springs won't keep your factory hood open they are perfect for a fiberglass hood. That's what I have and it's perfect. I tried dedicated glass hood springs from Harwood, but they were way to stiff. Sometimes worn out parts are still usefull.
NazztyMonte
Ok, I get it now. My springs are real strong still far from worn out, so I will look for new ones. Thanks Greg and Bill.
680HPStroker
I actually meant worn out springs, not new ones. New OEM, or repro springs will probably be more stiff than the Harwood springs I mentioned before.
NazztyMonte
( Laughing).....yeah , I knew what you ment. The ones I have wont work, so I will need new ones.
502ci
I had mentioned in another thread I tried to weaken my stock springs by using a torch on them...I heated them up (hanging, not on the car) evenly by using a timer and a pyrometer. For the life of me I could not weaken them...and that was even after I went crazy and heated the hell out them... Still too stiff... AL M
Harwood 215's, they are the heaviest springs for fiberglass hoods!
