Ian
I had suggested the alternate CD because of the issues you were having with the video card, but Allan is right, it should not have stopped on the partitioning... It sounds like you may have a bad hard drive... How old is it... Â Ian
monte70car
the 320gb is 7 months old and the 80gb is 7 years old
Ian
Hmm that 320 should not be giving you issues unless the motherboard needs some special driver for that big of drive... But the 80 I could see going bad in 7 years... Â Ian
TN454Monte
Allan, Since you had the issue on all Dell platforms, and they seem Intel on board video related, did you check Dell's website for a new BIOS? Or one that supports Ubuntu? Â Just a thought.

monte70car
well i can rule out the cd being bad and now know the problem is the video card. im typing this on linux on my home laptop with a ati video card. next on the list is to try one of my other desktop up stairs and see if it works there as well.
