Chevyss
I'd silicone it to the cover only.
Monte72Carlo
The reason I'm asking is because I don't have any automotive silicone, but have house hold stuff but would rather not. I have permatex gasket maker, would that work? Garrett.
Chevyss
Only problem with permatex, it's a bi!@h to get off later on. Silcone is much easier. JMO .
Monte72Carlo
Can I just use household clear silicone? Garrett.
bobsmc
i would not use household silicone just glue the gasket to the cover with weatherstrip adhesive and bolt it up. bob
allchevy
shouldn't need anything. Just bolt it up.
wallaby
Like valve covers or oil pan, just make sure the tin is flat (no bulges or deformation under the bolts)...in fact it would be better if the bolt holes bulged outward a tiny bit. If the cover is flat, your gasket shouldn't need anything else. Household silicone isn't suitable...it isn't formulated to withstand temperatures or oil.
