Can you break in your motor with them installed or are they like the Hookers and tell you can't because you will burn the ceramic coating. I know Doug's are thicker. I don't know how I would break in my motor without doing two complete exhaust jobs. I have a old set of BBC header but they are for racing and it would be a chore to rig them up. Any suggestions??? 72-CLASSIC_RIDE Posted June 19, 2011 Share Posted June 19, 2011 I installed Dougs ceramic headers but only after the break in on the rebuilt motor. I also had to reconfigure my original exhaust for alignment. I used the old original exhaust down tubes (modified) and a couple cheapo mufflers to do the breakin. A real pain but was the least amount of work & cost to break in engine. A couple hundred miles later I installed the Doug Thorley Headers then went to the muffler shop & redid entire exhaust system. Archer Posted June 19, 2011 Author Share Posted June 19, 2011 Thanks guys, I think I am going to take a chance and fish the exhaust, prior to break in. I guess the worst that can happen is i have to sent them back out this winter to get re-coated. Mike did you break in Jack's car with them on, and did you see any detrimental affects? dbreese Posted June 19, 2011 Share Posted June 19, 2011 Like Mike said give the car plenty of timing and if you have access to a floor style shop blower place it so it blows plenty of air through the engine compartment during break in and after shutdown.
