Guest Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 Hello all, I want to put a T56 6 speed transmission in my monte. Has any one out there ever done this? I Know I will have to cut my tunnel and shorten my drive shaft then mount the hydrolic clutch system. I think I can use the stock cross member with a new tranny mount. If anyone knows of anything else that would help me just let me know. I also have a post for instaling an LT1 in the Engine message board. Andreas Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 I know www.keislerauto.com has 5-speed kits for A-bodies and also has T56's for other muscle cars... Install Instructions I have swapped a TREMEC TKO in place of a TH350 (before Keisler existed). No mods to the tranny tunnel (excpet for cutting the shifter hole). I have heard the T56 will require more mods to the tunnel. Had to make an adapter to use the stock tranny crossmember... Have a mechanical clutch...
