  1. The "LS" I'm thinking about is a LQ9 10:8 to 1 compression, with a Comp Cams .625/625 roller cam, carb. intake with Fitech fuel injection. This would be 530 hp(480) to the wheels. It would look like a SBC with Round Air Cleaner, retro -valve covers(chevrolet script) painted orange of course!!
  2. Well, I'm at a crossroads right now on which way to go as motor in my Monte. I've been planning on a 6.0 LS motor swap and now I am thinking either increase size(stroke) of my SBC or take on a Big Block (427) for it. I have most of the stuff for a big block, I could even go out to 496 with it. I know that my car is not numbers matching and won't ever get rid of it. Just need a little more excitement. I do need to change out the gearing in it (3.42 now to 3.73) for the overdrive trans. It's been 12yrs . Decisions, Decisions.....................Thoughts?
  3. I'm just wondering how many of us have heard of this blues guitar player. I for one have been lost since Stevie Ray Vaughn left us , and found new blues players in Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Johnny Lang, But this guy is just amazing. I can't seem to stop listening to his playing.
  4. Rob, I have seen this before also. Craigslist, (2002 Honda Gold Wing). I followed along until I got the same info. on "packed and ready to ship from such and such" inspect for 5 days and so on. I contacted Craigslist and spoke with someone on it and they definitely said it was SCAM. Watch out.... Their out there.
  5. Just my 2cents. I'm guessing Hydraulic roller lifters, right? If they are solid You should have a spec. card to go by from Comp.cams. If it's a solid cam lifter should be like .016/.018 lash on the rocker arm. Man I hope you don't have bent pushrods! Sam ,(bones) on this site could help you out with this, he's done some of these too.
  6. Soft Seal all the way!! can't go wrong, quality product.
  7. Definetly 235"s all around. 235's on the front of mine.
  8. If your going BBC, I'd buy a nice set of Moroso BBC solid engine to your mount plates. So you won't have to replace broken ones. Have these on my small block with no issues. And with a Monte Carlo they are not that bad as far as vibration thru frame either.
  9. Wow! What a read!! You guys know a lot of history on these cars! Now I'm thinking of cloning mine into a Custom.
  10. If it has power windows ,could be the 30 Amp fuse block in the fuse panel. something I found at the night at the drive-in . That is a night I'd rather forget!!
  11. Awesome!! Thank you Aron ,that is a great video of the meet. Yes , lots of rain but it's Carlisle. Glad to finely meet you. I had a great time even with the rain. Can't wait to see it all again next year!
  12. could be a long shot but you might try your ignition switch on the column. the rod running down to it might need an adjustment. you can drop the column and move that switch up a little and it might take care of it. mine needed a little adjustment prior to buying a new starter. If you have headers you can also buy a heat shield for the solenoid too.
  13. Chevrolet Nationals: The Fun-Filled Weekend Carried On For Day Two this might work? it did on my end!!
  14. Congrats to all the winners!!! And a special Thanks goes out to Rob & Bob who made this meet go smooth. Just to let everyone know we are Monte's are featured in Street Muscle Mag.com under events /car shows . It looks like when we showed up to the field on Saturday morning.
  15. Steve, You might want to contact Leo Konink (Konink's Klassics) the Parts Sources page on this site. He will know exactly what you are wanting to know. He might be busy ,but he will get back with you about it. He is a general whizz on our Monte Carlo's.
  16. Welcome to the Madness(Monte Carlo that is)!! Glad you joined! Sounds like a car you can make just the way you want it. You should make plans to make it up to the show. I believe 34 Montes will be on hand this year. Always a great time. Hope to see you there, with or without your Monte. remember, pictures are welcome here.
  17. One solid Monte from Florida? too nice. Up where we are from that would be a Great place to start from. Mine was from the doors back all replaced with good metal. Keep up the good work, It will be very nice when finished for sure!
  18. Hi Mike! Welcome to the Madness!! I also have done this upgrade to my '72. Best thing I've done to it!! www.shiftworks.com
  19. My Black Cloth for my '72 was brought fro CARS inc. This stuff is on the expensive side . I bought mine in '07 and was $95.00 a yard. I had replaced the bucket seat back and the rear seat top piece. that was $285.00 for material. You could also try Ausley's in North Carolina.
  20. Man , a '71 454 numbers matching, you looking to the future Leo? That will be one special Monte!! "In Leo we Trust"
  21. I used "Low Gloss" black engine paint. looks good after 10 yrs.
  22. I'm working on my '65 Chevelle right now and have not gotten that far yet. I'm thinking it should be able to go in on an angle to get it inside the car. the front is narrower then the rear if your fender wells are not in yet?
  23. They call it seam sealer. Local auto paint store or auto parts should have it . You can brush it on or use it in a caulk gun. once you have it all welded that would be a good time to use it. get all the old stuff off where you want to apply the new.
  24. Ditto, what real red said . have not had a problem with those and did this 14 yrs ago.
  25. Welcome to the FGMCC !! I hope you are keeping the "Mags" If you are not I'm interested in them. Let your son know he's 1 Lucky Boy!!
